After a challenging year it was good to return to what we call our second home (trip number 5). The Lakeside Villa was spotless as normal and the lake looked amazing. We achieved 3 new PB's, 2 for Mary with a 36lbs Mirror and 35lbs common and for me a 36lb Sturgeon. Still waiting for a 40+... hopefully next time, thanks to Glen for all his help and advice, 1st class as usual, Andy & Mary

Always great to see our friends Rick & Nicki. Last year when they came to Etang Hirondelle we were experiencing hot weather, this year it was mostly raining!
Rick's biggest Carp were 2x 50lbders, 55.7lbs and a 53lbs...... Well done Rick!

Wow, what an amazing holiday! We were greeted by Glen and instantly made to feel relaxed, which was the theme of the holiday
When we arrived we were blown away by how beautiful the location was. The cottage was wonderfully clean and beautifully appointed. We have been lucky enough to stay in a number of properties around the UK and Europe. We are generally disappointed by how they are equipped, that was definitely NOT the case with this property. Glen and Linda have really put a great deal of thought and love into this property. It was a home from home, with a superbly equipped kitchen. The wifi and TV worked brilliantly, the sofas and beds were really comfy and the shower is amazing. This all wrapped up in a classic French property, what more could you want.
The grounds are sensitively maintained by Glen. The lake is manicured enough to be comfortably fisherable whilst still maintaining a natural feel. This is reflected in the amount of wildlife to be found around the lake. Be it the constant buzz of the kingfishers flying around the Pool or the Red squirrels climbing in the trees behind the swim. Simply wonderful.
We managed to have a BBQ nearly every lunchtime by the swim. This is our idea of a perfect day. Tranquility, some great food, and a glass of wine.
Finally the fishing. What can I say !!
Fishing only days I managed exactly 50 carp. The average size was around 35lb, and included 5 forties and five fifties, in reality, there are not many venues where you will get figures like this, especially on an exclusive basis.
The fish are in great condition and they are a testament to Glen's fishery management skills. So often in France, the fish are disappointing in appearance. Not so here.
My fiftieth fish was an amazing looking 58lber, you really could not make it up. I did not manage one of the sixties on this trip but we will be back to try and put one of them on the bank.

It was great to be back for our 2nd family holiday at Etang Hirondelle in as many years. The lake looked amazing, and the accommodation was all ready to go, a credit to our friendly and helpful hosts Glen and Linda. We only fished dawn to dusk for the week and on Wednesday, just the evening............... By the end of Thursday, we had caught 14 carp to 39lb 10oz, a sturgeon of 32lb but all under 40lb, I was beginning to think beating my PB was not meant to be and then Friday happened.........

Enjoyed some fishing this week with my boy and family, Etang
Hirondelle is such a beautiful place and the lake is full of quality
fish. Caught a 36lb sturgeon that I will never forget! 50.8lb mirror
carp which was absolutely stunning, 32.6lb common. A 22lb common and a pike! Had to get Ben a fish so we did a night and got him a 23.4lb common and he’s buzzing. France what a place! Great to meet you both. What an amazing holiday!

Here at Etang Hirondelle we have had an amazing few weeks!
We have met lovely new guests who have enjoyed the fishing and attractions nearby making their family holiday one to remember.

3x 50lbs - Biggest 53lb
7x 40lbs 49lb
The rest were under 40lbs - Biggest 30lb - 38lbs. I also caught Sturgeon, the Biggest being 37lbs, Roach & a Pike, which just fell short of the net, does that count?
What more can I say?...... Fantastic

I will upload Chris's comments to our website once they are received. The bait used was house pellets and house boilies.

We had a fantastic week at Etang Hirondelle despite very hot temperatures.

It took a few days to get the fish feeding after the lake having a 2
week break. But on the Tuesday I had a brilliant day, fish up to 40lb,
some 30s, lots of 20s.
