The cottage is a beautifully presented, superbly equipped and exquisitely renovated 300-year old Breton Gite with a wonderful view over fields and country side, yet close to local towns. It is ideal for exploring Brittany by car, cycling, walking or just relaxing in peaceful surroundings and nearby there are places to visit to suit all the family from fishing to riding to water sports to the wonde
rful sandy beaches and the typically French markets. Generally bookings run Saturday to Saturday but i am happy to accommodate out of the high season
With a wood burner for autumn and winter and a sunny South facing garden for spring and summer, Carhaix- Plouguer is the ideal location for a romantic hideaway or a family holiday. The cottage has one double bed in a spacious bedroom (small camp bed for one under the bed) and also a corner sofa which converts into a double bed. So at least room for 2-5 a family or couple can be accommodated. There are good cooking facilities, satellite television, Dvd and all the home comforts you could want and play equipment for small children.Well behaved pets welcome. We are flexible with dates of arrival so grab a cheaper crossing in the week but its first come first serve basis, generally most bookings are sat to sat. Also if you want a long weekend please just call. I'll try to price match if you can find a gite that lives up to rouge cottage. A deposit of £50 is payable on booking. Should you break anything i am happy for a replacement of a similar type but do hope that people are open and honest as its a family run cottage and rely on honesty :)
You can purchase logs for the woodburner in the local Bricolage, garden centres or supermarket. Its only 40 minutes drive from some of the best beaches in Brittany. Only 5 minutes from the town of Carhaix-Plouguer. Also only 15 minutes by car from the new Valley of the Saints Heritage Site on the outskirts of Carnoet, with its giant granite statues of Breton Saints. Within 15 minutes drive are the attractive French towns of Callac and 20 minutes takes you to the extraordinary stones, lake and forests around Huelgoat. Also within easy reach are larger historic centres such as Concarneau, Morlaix, Brest, and Quimper. Roscoff is the nearest port 50 minutes away, and St Malo is a two hour drive but is well worth the visit.
