Tour de France in Beziers today. Found a good spot along Port Neuf, by the Canal du Midi. Great atmosphere: two hours of waiting & watching the tour caravan for seven seconds of cycling action!

Fabulous walk at Lac Salagou, about an hour from Clos du Magnolia. It’s 10km on an undulating trail alongside the lake, a short steep uphill then return by a higher route with great views. It has a unique geology, the iron oxide in the sandstone giving a reddish colour and lunar-like landscape. This area is full of varied and interesting walks/hikes within easy reach of Clos du Magnolia and spring is the perfect time to come and discover all that is here.

It’s wonderful to come back to my garden at Clos du Magnolia in spring bloom. After almost two months away there is a lot of weeding to do and, later than usual, pruning of the roses, vines and fruit trees. The freesias are particularly good - neglect seems to suit them.

The Kashmiri goats are back on the early morning walk route from the village. The lone donkey is also keeping them company. Lovely start to the day to see their curious faces.

End of season beach day. Fabulous lunch at Biquet Plage, then swim and rest at Leucate. Lovely empty beaches in September - it's a great time to be in this wonderful part of France.

The vendange (grape harvest) is now in full swing. Lots of people picking, as well as the machines, tractors and trailers all busy bringing in the harvest. It's a busy and fraught time for the vignerons to get it all picked in time, then to start the process of making the wine.

Fantastic village soiree last night. Wine-tasting from local vignerons, music by C'dric, food trucks. Catching up with friends and neighbours, great wines, food and dancing made for a wonderful ambience. Bravo to our village organisers.
