It's a fantastic area for cycling, walking, kayaking, golf, horse-riding, motor-cross, motor-cycling and many more activities. However, if you prefer to spend your holiday in a more relaxing way, spend time by the lovely, non-chlorine, swimming pool (9m x 3m) and read, eat and drink fine Languedocian wine under the magnificent 120 year-old magnolia grandiflora tree. We are also at the border to two major wine appellations in France; St Chinian and Faugeres. There are many superb wines to taste and discover within easy reach. There is a large garage with secure storage for bicycles, motorbikes, kayaks etc.

A visit to Chateau Laurens in Agde which is decorated in the most amazing art nouveau decor and furniture. You can imagine some wild parties being held there in the past. The renovations have been faithfully done and there’s a surprise in every room.

The swimming season is over. The winter pool cover is now on and summer furniture is being put away/covered. However , there’s still miles of glorious beaches to go to in winter for that cold-water swim high 😀🥶

Scenes from Barcelona trip. As well as watching the Americ’s Cup, did see some other wonderful sights. Visited the fabulous Palau de la Música Catalana, with its incredible auditorium and was fortunate to hear the organ played. Amazing food at the Mercato Sant Caterina and general wander through the maze of narrow streets.

Day 4 of America’s Cup racing in Barcelona. Watched it from the fan zone at Bogatell beach. Big screens, commentary plus a very good view of the boats on the water. Also had time for a lovely swim in the Mediterranean in between races. Two wins to Ineos, which made the Brits around us very happy 😊

Out on the water for day 2 of the America’s Cup in Barcelona. Great crowds of supporter both on land and in the boats. 3-0 to Team Emirates (NZ) … so far.

Just had a great week being a tourist, along with a friend from London. It included Montpellier to see some art, wander the streets and lunch. Gruissan for a walk along the beach, visit the salt marsh and lunch. Beziers for the plant market, seeing the historical frecoes and lunch. Pezenas for the Saturday market … and lunch! Great to get back to places I haven’t been to for a while.

Tour de France in Beziers today. Found a good spot along Port Neuf, by the Canal du Midi. Great atmosphere: two hours of waiting & watching the tour caravan for seven seconds of cycling action!

Fabulous walk at Lac Salagou, about an hour from Clos du Magnolia. It’s 10km on an undulating trail alongside the lake, a short steep uphill then return by a higher route with great views. It has a unique geology, the iron oxide in the sandstone giving a reddish colour and lunar-like landscape. This area is full of varied and interesting walks/hikes within easy reach of Clos du Magnolia and spring is the perfect time to come and discover all that is here.
