Marseille & Calanques Tuk Tuk Tour
Marseille is the 2nd biggest city in France. It’s quite spread out (north/south axis) due to the layout of the land. To see both the city and escape to the limestone creeks known as The Calanques, no better way to do it than to call Nicolas and set up your Tuk Tuk tour. Buy your picnic food at Les Grandes Halles du Vieux Port and then stop at a sun soaked spot for lunch.
Joyous festivities begin in Provence…
The 19th century Provençal ethnologist and poet, Fréderic Mistral, taught the locals the importance of bringing the older and younger generations together in order to keep a cultural identity. Heritage, tradition and local culture bring people together.
Autumn tours were exceptional with an "Indian Summer". Now my mind turns to the cozy part of winter tours...like a warm crêpe in your hands as you stroll the local market, or the crackling of the fire as you sip a glass of Côtes-du-Rhone wine in an old Provencal farm house. Last minute spot available on Pre-Christmas Winter Tour...more information at https://thegoodlifefrance.com/a-sparkling-winter-tour-of-provence/
Lavender surprise for you!
Exploring High Provence for lavender, authentic villages, and hiking trails. Take a look...
A little accordion music in Aix today. Notice the ladies sitting across the street on the bench. One is American the other French. They chatted, as much as they could, and even got a selfie taken together. The joys of traveling bring us together in simple yet meaningful ways.
30 seconds to imagine standing next to Cezanne as he puts up his easel to paint Saint Victoire...
Welcome to authentic Provence in my hometown Cavaillon with the annual Provençal folklore club presenting their dedication to preserving the traditional dances and symbolism in the customs. For example, the « bonnets » hats were all made differently and expressed social class, the region, and if the young lady was available to be engaged or already engaged.
A black diamond in Provence is the Truffe Noir du Périgord (also scientifically referred to as melanosporum). The production has been significantly reduced due to urbanisation and drought (averaging 1000 tons in France in the 19th century to about 30 tons today). This truffle cost me 33€ yesterday at a small Luberon market. Watch the video to learn a little more.
A little peace from Provence to wish you all a very merry Christmas. Whether it’s a quiet one or a crazy loud one, may the simple joy of stopping routine warm your heart.
The first of three videos for the last three weeks of 2017. This video displays the magic of the moment. Travel is about being in the moment and letting your eye see new things. It’s not always the monument you remember a year later. It’s often the mystery of capturing a cloud, a shadow or a reflection that remains with you. Why? Because it was created for you. Please share and encourage others to see artists moments created for them.
Live in a Provence today cooking a “tian de legumes”. It’s not complicated. It’s all in the art of arranging your vegetables. You know, you can’t go wrong in France if you treat everything like art.
Family celebration in Provence. My father-in-law’s 76th birthday with Châteauneuf-du-Pape from 1976 and singing the Provençal hymn written by Frédéric Mistral (La Coupo, 1876). Cultural immersion even after 20+ years in Provence.

Cacho Fio - Christmas Log
Old Tradition in Provence on the Eve of Christmas. The youngest wets the log with a branch soaked in fortified wine, the oldest says the following blessing (said in Provencal)...
#wanderlust in #chateauneuf with beautiful skies, delicious wine (of course), gourmet food AND a great friend! Biking (electric possible) is the best way to immerse into the unique wine culture of Chateauneuf.
