We have a new smart door! And some new furniture. More to come before Christmas. Nearly finished! Just waiting on the electricians. The ‘to do’ list is very short now, thank you Martin Gilbert Darenius and Anna Gilbert for all the hard work!

Like the new wall?? And the new wood burner? Unrelated but spotted two stags in the woods. One has to have a break from DIY! Week 12 is over.

Our eleventh week was shorter but so much was done. New windows all around and a new terrace door - all look amazing in the brushed “mélèze”. Tiling is now finished and the new oak parquet floor is a day away from completion; door trims are looking great! The new oak door from Finland arrived, smart lock included, so we’re excited to get that off the crate, inside and fitted. Thank you Martin Gilbert Darenius! Also ordered: new armchairs and various lights. Bought this last week: new side and coffee tables. Thank you Anna Gilbert 😍 It’s all coming together…

This week and next are slowed down (as built in to the schedule) on progress due to commitments elsewhere (yes, there are other building sites, it’s not all about Chalet Bechard!) however we now have a new kitchen (white goods delivered but not installed), a new kitchen window and fresh air for the wood burner. Come back soon Martin Gilbert Darenius ❤️

The ninth week of renovation works is already behind us, as is the painting of walls, bath, stairs, beams and radiators. The floor tiles are down and pointed, even a few new wall tiles in the ‘loo’. Electrical works were finished in the kitchen. Next week: fiber, kitchen, new windows! Great work Martin Gilbert Darenius! 🤩

Works continued through to the end of week eight of renovation works at the chalet. Great to see the painting nearly finished, parquet floor down in the new office and new tiling in the hallway, kitchen and bathroom. Skilled work by Martin Gilbert Darenius and Malc Decors.

Work progresses so well thanks to the fabulous Martin Gilbert Darenius and team. Here are some photos from week six.

Painting undercoat well under way, underfloor heating installed in the kitchen, protective screed poured and dry, and the oak parquet floor has been delivered.

We’re at the end of the fifth week and spot the difference from last week’s photos. Electricians and amateur builders ( Robert and Matthew Leguen de Lacroix) on site and the place is taking shape! Thank you Martin Gilbert Darenius. Also had a visit from the interior designers but no one took a photo of Anna Gilbert and her colleague 🤔

The fourth week of renovations is behind us. How do you like the green colour for the walls??

We are now three weeks in to the renovation works, thanks principally to Martin Gilbert Darenius who is the local craftsman and friend in charge. This week we ordered a new wood burner from Sweden and a new front door from Finland. The electricians were on site for a couple of days and we’ve started the arduous task of repainting radiators.

Week two and work continues!

Renovation works started last Monday with a visit from the electricity board to connect three-phase power. Everything on the first floor has been packed, moved and/or given away. A lot of wood, carpet and tiling has disappeared to the local skip.
