La Maison des Hiboux is a renovated farmhouse in SW France which offers guests a peaceful rural holiday location and private use of a 10 x 5m swimming pool.

La Maison des Hiboux will be available as a holiday let from Summer 2014. Suitable for 4 - 6 guests. (Well behaved dogs will be welcome subject to certain restrictions). Offering guests two double ensuite bedrooms, a spacious living area and a newly fitted kitchen with appliances. Outside space comprises of a spacious garden with fruit trees, a terrace for alfresco dining and a private 10m swimming pool.

Another summer’s evening, another Marché Nocturne. This time at Fontet for an event advertised in our local paper. Being able to introduce our guests to these events and catch up with friends is a pleasure. Everybody enjoyed the ambiance, music and good choice of food ☀️☀️🇫🇷

For those who wish to venture further into SW France, you can reach Toulouse in just under two hours and Carcassone in two and a half from here. We have been able to visit both in the last few weeks and enjoyed them both 🇫🇷

The joys of cutting grass after such a wet spring. Managed to plant the mower in a damp part of the garden. Pulled it out myself no problem with the help of the van. Problem was the van then also decided to plant itself. Fortunately we know someone who is always in hand to help with such ‘life in the country’ issues. iMad found it highly entertaining!

Went out for a bimble today with our friends from the UK. From Bazas around Lac de la Prade and back again. After the best part of 10 miles, beer and tapas back in Bazas was well deserved.

A busy couple of weeks at La Maison, ripping out a dying laurel hedge and installing a new fence. Rain stopped play on more than one occasion but the new fence is in and looks good. Now to find a new hedge!

An orange festival at a chateau in Podensac on the banks of the Garonne river. Lillet wine has been produced there since 1872. A mix of Bordeaux wines and citrus liqueurs, it is often served as an ‘apéro’ before dinner, so of course we had to give it a try, even though it was only mid afternoon 🇫🇷

It must be Saturday. Coffee and sunshine at Bazas Market. Bought wild squid from the fish counter for lunch. For a first attempt at homemade calamari, the end result wasn’t too bad!☀️☀️🇫🇷

We had previously been told about ‘Le Mascaret’, a natural phenomenon where the leading edge of the incoming tide on the River Dordogne reverses the direction of the current. The result is a wave that attracts a number of surfers. This evening we took the opportunity to watch it at the Port of Saint Pardon in company with some members of the International Club of Bordeaux 🇫🇷
