La Vieille Tuilerie (literally, The Old Tileworks or Brickworks - named after the road the house lies on, itself named after the old village industry. This is a spacious and light, detached and private, 5-bed (3 double bedrooms and two kids' rooms), 3 bath family home with large, private and enclosed garden, with trampoline, swings and a lovely grassy toddler garden at the rear with boules area (a
nd boules!), plus fully gated pool (10m x 5m) and secure on-site parking. Fully renovated with taste, assiduously maintained, and equipped with all mod-cons. Ideal for either one, two or three families with or without young children. Also with a ground floor bedroom suite, perfect for accompanying grandparents too. Although we provide a free Welcome Pack of essentials (English tea, coffee, biscuits, jam, bottle of sparkling water and a bottle of wine etc - so you can have a snack - and a drink! - when you arrive), please do let me know if you'd like the fridge filled with a more comprehensive selection of foods to start you off (chargeable just for the cost of the items, not the service). We also leave all new guests cleaning materials, washing-up liquid, dishwasher tablets and some washing powder. La Vieille Tuilerie is located on the edge of a village called Espondeilhan (affectionately known as Espon-diddly-dong!), within easy walking distance to the shops including a baker's, farm grocery ashop, tabac and a Post Office. It is close to the beautiful medieval market town of Pézenas (market day Saturday) and the larger city of Béziers at about 12-15 minutes to each one. The nearest large supermarket (with service station for petrol) is only 5 minutes away in a larger village called Servian. Espondeilhan lies in a network of close-knit villages - all only a few minutes from each other, and each with something unique to offer, in the way of bars, restaurants, wine-tasting, village fêtes, old windmills, lakes and rivers to swim in, you name it! The variety of town-living, but with the easy-going pace of village life! Beaches 30 mins, Lac Salagou 30 mins. Superb walking, cycling, riding, windsurfing, sailing, tennis and golf. Summer rentals from 2013 to 2020 inclusive, have seen us welcome some amazing guests to the house! With good planning and thinking ahead, we're pleased to say that everything has so far gone extremely smoothly. We've had such lovely guests! We've done a lot of summer holiday house renting ourselves, so are applying our principles of everything from 'absolute necessities' to 'wouldn't it be nice if...' to the house and to the welcome pack of essentials, as noted above (eg brand new kitchen sponges every time and bin liners that fit the Brabantia bin, for example!). Outside: Pool 10m x 5m. Gated, fenced and lockable with two gates. Stone barbecue on terrace with table and two lovely tables seating up to 12. Large private and 100% secure, enclosed garden with children's play area (trampoline, slide, swing, see-saw) and toddler garden with lush, green grass and toddler toys (small slide, plastic seesaws, mini-Bosch lawnmower, ride-on toy etc)... as well as a boules terrain with boules. Downstairs: Large hall with out-of-tune piano! To the right, a formal living room with wide-screen TV, Freeview TV, DVD. The formal living room leads through to a beautiful large, airy double bedroom with en-suite shower-room - great for grandparents, for example. Across the hall lies a second family living/dining room with table for 8/9, widescreen TV, DVD (with lots of children's DVDs). Wifi throughout with easy code and connection. Fully fitted and equipped kitchen (5-ring hob, two ovens, dishwasher, extra drinks fridge and a good range of cookware, utensils and plenty of matching crockery). Table and seating for four in kitchen. French doors onto terrace with barbecue area, next to the pool. End of the hall, downstairs WC and hand-basin. Back of the house, utility room with washing machine, dryer, large ironing board, iron. Upstairs: Four gorgeous large bedrooms, two with two enormous windows looking over the countryside. One master bedroom with king-size bed, one double bedroom with double bed, one kids' room with two single beds and one kids' room with white wooden bunk beds and a toddler bed/cot also available, as well as two travel cots. We do include a helluva lot of toys too! The house sleeps two good-sized families: 4-6 adults and 4-5 children. (As well as cots, we have a high chair, booster seat, walker, bouncer, steriliser, spare bibs, baby and toddler cutlery and crockery etc. And lots of scooters for outside!)
Also on the first floor is the big Baroque-style family bathroom with bath (+ shower) and separate very large rain shower, WC, double hand-basins and ornate silver mirror. There is also a second shower-room with large shower, WC, handbasin. Fans in every bedroom and two portable air-conditioning units available for a small rental fee (to cover extra electricity costs). All windows have electric shutters which keep out the daylight - great for lie-ins and to help the kiddies sleep! No smoking inside the house please. Non-furniture-chewing dogs are welcome!! :)
Bedlinen provided, bath and pool towels provided. I have all baby equipment you might require. We leave you two hairdryers, and nice liquid handsoap in every bathroom. We've tried our very best to think of everything you might need to make your stay a real 'home away from home' including - gasp - plenty of matching cutlery and crockery and co-ordinating bedding with a high threadcount! In a holiday home, I hear you say?! Well yes. It's what I'd want so it's what we're offering our guests. I hear horror stories of threadbare towels that make me shudder! We also have plenty of kiddies' tableware and even bibs, a steriliser, bottle-warmer etc. So you can pack more frocks! :)
