I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar........Opps NO. I was working as a Special Needs Co-Ordinator and my husband, Doug as a Highway Engineer. After holidaying in France and seeing how others did it, we decided in 2002 to take the plunge and move to France.
A really, really cheap RyanAir flight was responsible for what was to come. I think it was £1 return?
By 2004 we had found La Bourjonnerie. A property with two houses, land and a range of barns. A second house which was to become La Maison de Maître, Loire Gite after some renovation.
By October 2004 and after many hiccups we were finally installed. Two horses, two cats and one dog! Due to the hiccups all arriving at different times.
By mid 2005 La Maison de Maître, Loire Gite was ready to rent out. My cousins came and tested the gite out for us.
Holiday rentals at that time were a very different story. There was little internet if any at that time and no one requested it! There weren’t so many gîtes in the area for rent either!
Today, we have a large 5 bedroom gite sleeping 8. A heated private pool, large garden, WIFI and we welcome your four-legged friends.

We live in a Longere, 87 steps from kitchen to kitchen but not overlooking the gite. Our daughter Laura is establishing her own horse livery business whilst actively taking part in showjumping competitions with her team of 4 horses during the summer season.
With 7 horses, 7 cats, 7 chickens and 2 dogs there is never a dull moment at La Bourjonnerie.
Doug and I also have a small wine tour business taking clients out for wine tastings with the local producers along the Loire Valley.
We are situated near Chatillon sur Indre (36), only 25 mins from The Medieval Market Town of Loches (37), just 35 mins from Zoo Beauval (the nº1 zoo in France). We are no more than 50 minutes from the vineyards and châteaux of the Loire as well as many other attractions in the area.
