Please note the information below if you are planning to visit the Memorial for the D-Day events...
D-Day 80: IMPORTANT INFORMATION
As we are now under three weeks away from the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the Trust would like to share some important information:
Access on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 June
The site will be closed to visitors from midday to 6pm on Wednesday 5 June due to rehearsals led by the BBC for 6 June ceremony. On Thursday 6 June, access to the site will be strictly for those who have received an official invitation to attend.
For those attending on 6 June or at any other time, we recommend warm clothing and layers as the site can be very windy and weather unpredictable, plus sturdy footwear.
Coverage of the official national commemoration, taking place at 11am UK time will be broadcast across the BBC and other networks.
You can also follow the Trust's official Facebook and Twitter channels for updates during this period.
Friday 7 June
The Winston Churchill Centre for Education and Learning will be officially open to the public on Friday 7 June onwards. The centre features two exhibition galleries and a classroom space. The classroom (max capacity 30) can be booked in advance by visiting schools - bookings can be made by contacting the Trust in advance via [email protected].
The centre also includes a café area serving light refreshments and a shop selling official British Normandy Memorial merchandise.
We are delighted to be welcoming the Pendryus Male Choir to the Memorial on 7 June for a free 2-hour outdoor concert that will start at 2pm, and all are welcome to attend. Renowned Mezzo-Soprano soloist Emma Hartsuiker Brown will also be performing alongside the choir.
For further events at the Memorial through the summer, do check the website.
Standing with Giants Installation
The Standing with Giants installation will be in place until end of August 2024. Tribute plaques to be placed alongside the installation (and elsewhere on the site thereafter) are still available to sponsor: please order by 10 June for installation by 15 July.
