We are hosting our last family summer multi activity holiday of the season this week with a lovely family from Australia and today was paragliding. Other adventures they have lined up include a night in mountain hut, via ferrata and e-biking!
This is such a great formula for families and runs from May until now and it is always a little bit emotional when it is the end of the season.
We do of course have an autumn activity holiday which takes its place for the months of October and November and then a winter snow version but they are just not the same as our summer one!

Our cyclists day off!! Instead of relaxing at the accommodation, they rode up to Orcières Merlette taking advantage of the cols fermés road, then took the ski lift up and hiked back down via the 6 magnificent high altitude lakes of Orcieres! A highly recommended hike to do when in the southern French Alps!

Day 1 of our Tour de France Cols on an e-bike trip with a fabulous group of Tour de France fans and cyclists from South Africa, UK and Switzerland!
This climb was to do the famous Col du Noyer mountain pass between the Champsaur and Dévoluy valleys which featured this year in the Tour de France. It's a beautiful climb with stunning views and a final tough 2km with tight hairpins - a real cycling adventure!

Another fabulous day out on the via ferrata Via Ferrata de la Grande Fistoire for our families on their summer multi activity holiday!
If you have a head for heights and want to test it out, this is the activity for you! Climb up a sheer cliff face using the ladders and holds, traverse wire bridges and then zip back down on tyrolean zip lines.
Backwards down the canyon - not for the fainthearted!!!
What an amazing day with the team from Arc'teryx doing a day of volunteering with the Les Croqueurs de pommes charity helping to preserve ancient varieties of apples and pears in the mountains.
They worked on an orchard near Glaizil in the Champsaur valley weeding, digging and fixing tutors to the trees alongside the regular volunteers. A super day of sharing and learning - the presentation on tree grafting was especially interesting.
This was part of a reward trip for the company's best employees (voted by their colleagues), where they did canyoning, via ferrata , hiking and a day of volunteering. The motto of the company is to leave places better than they found them .
We were delighted to have been able to organise this fabulous trip in the southern French Alps for them with our partners The Road Less Traveled who also share the same values.

It starts with a walk in to the Refuge Pigeonnier where you stay for a short overnight as you have an early 3am start from the refuge, a couloir to negotiate, then glacier crossing, culminating in a steep rocky scramble before reaching the summit.

The summer kicked off with a fantastic stag do, a 60th birthday trip, and school groups enjoying tailor-made multi-activity holidays. Highlights included students spotting a wolf at the refuge and the huge amount of melting snow creating thrilling conditions for river descents and canyoning, even allowing us to cannon down a waterfall in a typically dry canyon! We also welcomed journalist Rhiannon Batten from The Guardian and Richard Hammond from Greentraveller Magazine, who wrote wonderful articles showcasing the beauty of the Alps and the fact that you can reach us by train. 🚂🚂 The Tour de France added much excitement with four mountain stages on our patch and providing the perfect launchpad for our road cycling odyssey trip. 🚴🚴♀️ Our hiking trips were a great success, with a Canadian family enjoying our gourmet walking holiday and our first group joining the Dévoluy Alpine Hikes trip. Paragliding courses were ongoing throughout the summer with more and more people experiencing that first flight feeling! 🪂 Our most popular holiday by far was the summer activity holiday for families with teenagers with some really special bonding moments and phone free experiences in high mountain refuges, canyoning, rafting, via ferrata, horse riding, fishing, climbing and much more. Big firsts award goes to James who summited his first ever 4000m peak and the Charlwoods who summited their first mountaineering peak, Les Rouies with our top guide, Bernard. ⛰️ A first for Undiscovered Mountains, we organised a volunteering day for Arcteryx as part of their incentive trip of mountain activities for their top staff with the croquers de pommes. Thanks to the road less traveled for this great opportunity.
