Libje Cruises

I have been trying to write this for a while, but due to Facebook moving the goalposts with amazing rapidity, could not get my own page, to accept my own post!
Libje Cruises as of the end of last year, is no more. I have hung up my apron, and the skipper has stopped wearing his posh hat.
We have retired, Libje is now all ours,our home, and on which we will enjoy cruising our lovely Breton waterways just for ourselves.
Life is all too short to work until you die, while we are fit (ish!) and able to do so we plan to do as many things we enjoy as we can.
Thank you to all our guests who sailed with us, it was an enjoyable, sometimes frustrating, always varied experience!
I will leave this page open, as I hope, when I get my head round it, I will post an occasional post about our travels.
All the best to you all, and remember, you only get one life!!

This lovely medieval town is on our cruise route and a favourite with everyone! It is also our home town in the winter.

Tied up on our winter mooing after a busy season. Thank you to all our agents and guests for cruising with us and enjoying our unique corner of France. The canal shuts for the winter tomorrow, so we are looking forward to a bit of downtime! All the best to you all.

On our cruises through the central Brittany countryside we generally cruise for half a day and then do an excursion with our minibus for the other half. We visit a variety of places, museums, churches and villages but one of the big favourites with guests is the incredibly picturesque little village…

We are tucked up on a country mooring tonight. It is windy outside, but our guests have just finished dinner and couldn't care less! Menu tonight was; Foie Gras salad with home made onion confit, pan fried cod in a white wine and caper butter sauce with seaweed rice and a medley of peas, a 'taster' cheese plate ( Breton of course!) , and finished with a mango panacotta. Good to have finished the cooking, and good to have satisfied guests!

Just a small selection of foraged food available at this time of year. Yes, I did have permission to pick the fruit! There are so many fruit trees here a lot of it goes to waste.

Introducing our newest member of the crew! Miss Daisy ( Daisy for short!) has joined Millie, and will be on deck patrol when we start our season. We rescued her from an animal shelter, and she is a real sweetie.

We went to a fantastic Breton Bagad concert in Josselin the other evening. Similar to a Scottish pipe band. Glorious weather, and an amazing sound. See www.sonerien-an-oriant.com definitely one to remember.

This is to show everyone the lovely oak cupboard I designed to go in the twin cabin. It was made of us by local craftsman Adam at Revival. A place to store all that holiday clutter! I think it looks great.

This is the bonfire that has just been built in Rohan to be lit on the 14th July (Bastille Day) as part of the celebrations. Every town has a big celebration that day. Food, wine, music, bonfires and fireworks. The best day in the French social calendar! One not to miss. We will be there!

This is us with Manu Feildel the celebrity chef from Australia ( who was born and brought up near Nantes) who came and filmed a part of his 'return to his roots' show last summer. Thank you to Cyrielle at the tourist office in Josselin for the photo. We had a great time, and I think he enjoyed it too.
