SACRED SITES SACRED JOURNEY began with dreams and visions about sacred places. Some of the sacred site locations we have traveled to include Big Island, HI, Kauai, HI, Oahu, HI, New Zealand, Ecuador, Mexico City, Merida, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, Palenque, Mexico, Guatemala, and this year we again experience Mexico! Hope you can join us.
Each journey is a spiritual walk following ancient footsteps. These ancestors still connect with us today and we become immersed in a different time. The shared teachings and downloads help us to water and nuture the seeds of our ancient memories!
Here are a few pieces of information that you may find useful.
Arrival: January 15th, 2020
Palenque airport is on the outskirts of Palenque Town. Taxis to the hotel (250pesos) are available outside the airport terminal, you need to buy a voucher from inside the terminal. When traveling in Mexico, use taxis that are taken this way. If arriving with others then you can share the taxi for the same price. You will be responsible for getting from the airport to the hotel.
Hotel Address :
Hotel Cabanas Safari, Palenque. Check in: 3:00 pm. All taxis know this location. A basic Spanish sheet with helpful information will be provided. Please see the important arrival information document for full details and other travel options. We will use this as our base for the first 2 nights and last 3 nights. You will be in a twin room with one other person. The rooms contain two beds each. All rooms have ensuite facilities and private terraces. The hotel provides towels and there is a maid service for changing the sheets etc. The hotel has a restaurant, swimming pool and garden /outdoor area.
A 2 night stay in a Mayan Community is planned. Sharing arrangements will be discussed and it may be necessary to share with other members of the group on those nights.
Please also be prepared to pack your bags and vacate your hotel room at Cabanas Safari when we leave for the 2 night trip. There will be a room to store luggage. Please pack as lightly as possible to ensure there is enough space in the minivan for us. A backpack is helpful.
Meals
There is an on-site restaurant at Cabanas Safari where we will have breakfast most days. Breakfast is included in the trip price.
Lunch - Some lunches included. Some days we may need to take a packed lunch. Some lunches will be available at restaurants or eating places close to the sites that we visit. Tips are not included in pric
Dinner - We provide dinner opening night and the final night of our stay. In Palenque there are restaurants either at the hotel or in the local area to get dinner. Tips are not included in price
Snack & extras are not included. Tips are not included.
Water is not safe to drink from the tap. Be prepared to purchase bottled water. We shall supply a large bottle of water per person in your room in Palenque. We would suggest that you bring enough water with you each day on our day trips.
Transportation. Included in your price is all transportation whether this is public transport, taxis or hired vans. We will be using hired vans most of the time.
Weather
The average in January is 26-33C. Please do check the forecast before you come. Please bring whatever you personally need for these temperatures. In the evenings it may get a little cooler so please bring appropriate layers. In the event of showers you may want a light rain jacket or plastic poncho.
Itinerary
January 15: Meet at the hotel / welcome gathering.
January 16- 20: Visit to a sacred site or other place / activity. We have found that as this is a sacred journey, plans sometimes change. We will provide a tentative daily outlook as we get closer to the trip. Each day we provide what you need to know regarding timing and content. Please note, that we do not consider our journey to be a ‘tour’, this is a sacred journey and you will each experience that differently. We ask you to come with an open mind and an open heart.
January 21-22: Days of reflection, shopping and departure plans. Please let us know of any questions you may have. This is our 3rd visit to this area and we can help.
Some factual information about the sites will be provided. Each individual experience is the highlight of this amazing time.
Special Items
For some activities you may wish to bring something to sit on such as a sarong. Please bring some white clothing or other ceremonial clothing as this may be required for ceremony. Please bring any special items such as crystals for putting on altars etc. If you resonate with crystal skulls and have one then please bring it along. Please do however keep these items to a minimum if possible.
Considerations
Health Vaccinations: None required Drink only bottled water Please bring any herbal remedies that you may need. Osha root (bear root) was very helpful for weak stomachs. If you take prescribed medicine please ensure you bring enough with you. You are responsible for your health & wellbeing during the trip.
Money
Please bring Mexican Pesos with you. They are available at atms at the airports. There are a few ATM machines and banks in Palenque Town, however, we do not have much opportunity to visit them and are No atms in the jungle. If necessary, alert your banking institution of your travel plans. The usual ATM withdrawal is between 5000-8000 pesos ($340-540 CDN) It is suggested you do not carry more than $100 at a time.
Baggage
Airlines are usually strict about baggage weight and number of bags. Check restrictions of your airline especially with connecting flights.
Practicalities
When visiting temple sites, you are in direct sun. Review what you may need and bring with you. Bottled water is available for sale when we are out each day but it is helpful to bring what you might need. Good walking shoes / sandals required. Pictures. We will take our time with lots of breaks to allow everyone to enjoy. There will be opportunities to swim so please bring swimwear.
Communication
Phones. Check your phone plans to see what charges you might incur. Consider apps that allow texting, calling, email in airport mode and wi-fi, Many plans charge a fee per day use. The hotels will have wifi and they will supply you with a code. The signal maybe weak within the hotel rooms but works fine in the public areas. It is recommended that you keep internet and television usage to a minimum during the trip anyway to avoid distraction and allow deeper immersion to the sacredness of the journey.
