Lac Jemaye
One of the beaches in the Dordogne we visit on a regular basis is Lac Jemaye. The Jemaye pond is a fragile ecosystem, but it serves as a good example of efforts being made to educate the public about the natural world. It showcases the various types of trees found in forests, highlights specific plant life typical of wetlands – particularly reed beds, and draws attention to rare animal species like the European pond turtle. Visitors can also observe abundant birds at the nearby Tuquet Pond observatory.
During the summer season, people can partake in water sports, including swimming and games for kids, at the Grand Étang with trained professionals to monitor safety from mid-June to the end of August. Additionally, there is a designated area for picnics and food services.
A designated route links the location to the Parcot farm, also considered La Double’s treasure.
