A final goodbye!
The end of an era! Mark and I have sold our gîte business and home here in France and would like to introduce the new owners to our Gîtes de Sévenne followers, Gill and Simon Webster.
We are delighted that they will be continuing to welcome guests and take Gîtes de Sévenne to the next chapter!
We have had an amazing 10 years welcoming guests, friends and family. We have enjoyed improving the gîtes and grounds during the years that we have been the proud owners of this very special property that many have called "paradise"!
Most of our guests arrived as strangers and left as firm friends! We have kept in contact with many and have had pleasure in watching their children grow into young adults over the years, what a privilege!
Mark and I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone that we have had the pleasure of meeting during the last 10 years, for their support.
Gill and Simon will be welcoming guests from the end of April and creating new memories. We wish them every success and hope they have the extraordinary experience we have had in meeting wonderful families from Europe and beyond!
Although it's a goodbye to Sévenne, it's not goodbye to living in France! The new chapter of our French Adventure will be continued 5 km away in a beautiful hill top village of Tourtres.
Take a look at some photos of Sévenne and memories of our time here.
The last photo shows the view from our Tourtres house, where we hope to move to at the end of April.

Fast forward to 2020! What a strange year this has been! However, we have had a great season despite the COVID19 pandemic! At the start of the lockdown and the uncertainty whether we would be able to open this year, our guests all moved their bookings to next year! When the borders opened and both French and UK governments allowed travelling between both countries our calendar filled almost immediately. This saved our year! We welcomed both returning and new guests and made even more friends and although with the "social distancing " and the additional hygiene and cleaning routines we were't able to socialise in the same way as in previous years, we still managed to enjoy the company of all our guests. A big thank you to all those who had the confidence to book with us.
Our summer 2020 season has now come to an end. We said good bye to our final guests last week end.
I hope you and your families are all well. Take care and please stay safe. Maybe we will see you next year. Our doors are always open ###

Great to see that some of the local Night Markets are on this summer! We went to Fongrave last week and it was well organized and COVID compliant! Hand gel available and masks to be worn at all times, apart from when you are seated and eating! Well done to the organizers for enabling everyone to have a fun night while feeling safe!

Going to night markets (marchés nocturnes) in the southwest of France is one of the best ways to discover small villages in the region and to get a nice dose of French rural vibes. During market days, the beautiful villages of the Southwest of France suddenly become very lively and festive. Complet...

Mark and I would like to take this opportunity to wish all our guests and friends a very happy, healthy, New Year.
Here are a few photos from our 2019 season; Night markets, "Trotting" racing, Oyster and White wine festival, feeding our hens, ducks and pets, playing in the 4-acre gardens, having fun in our 12x6m pool, enjoying alfresco meals under our new pagoda dining area..... and more!

Where did summer 2019 go? We have had another great year welcoming new and catching up with returning, guests! For some this was their 5th year with us! its a privilege to watch the children grow and develop into such lovely young people! We have made some amazing friends and have had fun along the way! I thought it would be nice to share some special moments with you:-
Our year began with a new grandson...welcome Harry James, a brother for Chloe (Chloe will be 4 in December!), Difficult to top that!
The neighbouring village of St Barthelemy completed its makeover and the new boulangerie, restaurant and village centre were unveiled!
We completed the new pool area and enjoyed many a balmy evening on the new alfresco garden terrace! sharing a meal with friends, new and old, enjoying a glass or two of wine under bright stars!
Temperatures this summer reached 44 degrees! Thank goodness for wide terraces and stone walls to keep us cool!
We welcomed 5 duckings! a great hit with the children! (sadly only 2 have survived!) And before you know it, Voila! season 2019 has come to a close!
We are now looking towards 2020.........What are you doing next year? Why not come and join the party!

Now there are two! Unfortunately, nature has had a cruel hand in the lives of our ducklings! The two surviving ducklings are now safely away from predators, I hope, penned in Berties run! Bertie is not too happy, he has been enjoying his daily exercise! He's now back in his "house"! Mummy duck has taken her eye off the little ones today, she has decided to sit again on another 4 eggs!

You can visit it on the August 30th if you are in the area. Bordeaux and all its beauty is only just over an hour away from Sévenne!

Our 5 "Sevenne Ducklings" are now 4 days old! I've just spent an hour sitting watching them running, playing and taking a bath! Very relaxing! "Duckling Watch" beats Spring Watch any day of the week! I think I could present the BBC's "Watch" programme, I now have the experience! 😆

"Great place to unwind”
Reviewed 6 days ago for a stay in June 2019 NEW
We stayed at Gites de Sevenne for ten days in June 2019. We felt instantly at home parking on the grassy drive and being welcomed by Ellie the friendly dog, Sandie the even more friendly owner, and the waddling ducks.

We have so many wonderful memories of our holiday. Lots of family time in the pool. Our four year old running down to the swings whenever she had the chance. Picnics in the garden under the willow tree in the dappled sunlight. Our one year old splashing in a shady paddling pool. Wine in the evenings in the garden. The children playing with toys in the living room. Walking in the nearby fields. Visits to a storybook castle, a fantastic swimming lake, and the peaceful water lily garden. Everything felt very easy and very calm.

Most of all though the holiday was made special by Sandie, who really is the shining soul of the place. Nothing was too much trouble. She is an encyclopaedia of local knowledge and just lovely to chat to. She’s available and present without it feeling like she’s in your space, which is quite an achievement. I feel I should mention that Mark was off on a trip so we barely saw him, but he was lovely too!

We came back feeling as though we had actually relaxed, which given the ages of our children and the other stuff we have going on in life, felt like magic. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a holiday here to anyone.

"Perfect Family Holiday!”

My wife and I stayed in Duck Cottage with our 2 year old daughter, and some other family members stayed in the adjoining Drake Cottage. We had an amazing time. The gites are excellently laid out and well stocked. Duck cottage has a good sized double room with walk in wardrobe, a twin room (where our daughter stayed in an excellent quality travel cot that was provided), a bathroom with shower (good strength and lovely and warm), well stocked kitchen and living room (with TV with English freeview). There is seating in and outside. The grounds are this properties outstanding feature. There is extensive lawned gardens, trampoline, badminton net, treehouse, swings, mini football goal, a lovely swimming pool (fenced off safely for children), and a covered area with table tennis, darts and loads of kids toys/cars/scooters/sand pits etc. The property is surrounded by fields and feels very private and tranquil. In the local village (25 min walk, few mins drive), there's a boulangerie, small shop and a bar with a terrace. We drove off to some markets in towns slightly further a field which is well worth it. Sandy and Mark give excellent recommendations whatever you are after. They are also great with children and will take them off to collect chicken and duck eggs and feed the Guinea pig! We highly recommend this place, for families but also for couples, groups of friends etc. We loved it!

Great new menu at La Plaisance. St Barthélemy d'Agenais. A stones through from Gîtes de Sévenne! If you go there for lunch, you could walk back to Sévenne and burn off some calories! 😂
