Whether it's the aromatic air, the incredible views or the tranquility, the West Gîte at 4Vents is where you can truly relax. In the evenings all you will hear are the sound of the crickets and the frogs under bright, starry skies. Oh and remember to watch out for the wild boar! The nearest village is Lagrasse, regularly voted one of the prettiest villages in France, which has shops and restaurants. The West Gîte is near to the Pyrenees so it is a great base for road and mountain bikers. Lake and river swimming is very popular with some beautiful, unspoilt locations. Or you can visit one of the many Mediterranean beaches at Leucate or Gruissan and sample the world famous Leucate oysters. It is on the "Route 20" or in French "Route Vingt" which is the wine route (get the pun?) and so superb wine domaines are nearby such as those in the Boutenac valley. Sightseeing destinations include the famous citadel at Carcassonne and the Cathar castles such as Peyreperteuse.
