Chamlodge Chalet is a private home situated in the village of Les Houches in the Chamonix valley, just five kilometers from the town of Chamonix Mont-Blanc. It is set in stunning surroundings in a quite area of the village and enjoys the breathtak
ing views of the Mont-Blanc massif. The Chalet is only 200 meters from the bus stop, both for the Chamonix valley bus and the Geneva bus which connects to Geneva center and its airport, 400 meters from the largest supermarket in the valley, 600 meters from the center of the village and just a short walk from a number of good restaurants, bars and shops. The Chalet has been completely refurbished during summer 2006. All the internal walls and ceilings have been paneled with fine pine wood and the floors have been re-tiled. All the bathrooms and kitchens have also been completely refitted and a brand new central heating system has been installed on the ground floor. The nearest ski area in the valley is the one of Les Houches (only 1 minute drive by car), followed by the ski area of Le Brevent in Chamonix town (5 minutes drive), La Flegere (7 minutes drive), Les Grands Montets (10 minutes drive) and Le Balme (15 minutes drive). The Chamonix Unlimited Ski Pass gives access to all these Chamonix valley ski areas and in addition to the nearby ski resorts of Megeve, Les Contamines, Courmayeur in Italy and Verbier in Switzerland. Les Houches is the biggest village in the Chamonix valley and it is completely independent from the town of Chamonix with its own separate Council and village management authorities. Within the Les Houches village, there are a Tourist Office, a bank with cash-point facilities, a post office, a school, a library, a museum, a large function hall which hosts a cinema screen, concerts, exhibitions and many different events, an outdoor ice skating center, an indoor climbing center, a number of tennis courts, a natural animal reserve, two activities parks, equipped outdoor climbing rock walls, two supermarkets, a weekly stall market, a good number of hotels (some with swimming pools and Spa’s open to non-residents) and a number of good restaurants, bars and sport and general shops. The ski area of Les Houches covers 120 kilometers of groomed ski pistes of which one, “La Verte or La Kandahar” is very well known worldwide as every year it hosts the world-cup competition of alpine skiing for the downhill and giant slalom disciplines. The village of Les Houches is also the starting point for the famous classic climb of the Mont-Blanc accessible from the village by a cable car and a mountain train which stops at 2400 meters. Les Houches and Chamonix are two of the most accessible ski and mountain resorts in Europe situated only 90 kilometers from Geneva airport (1 hour drive by car) and connected by the fast motorway “Auto-route Blanche” and situated only 3 kilometers from the Tunnel of Mont-Blanc which gives quick access to Italy and to the Swiss border (15 kilometers).
