We're getting the Chapel ready for our New Year's eve celebrations. There are two days to go, but with such a large space to heat, we need to start the wood burner now and turn on the radiators to ensure we have a cosy space in which to welcome in the New Year.
As for Icarus, it may look as though he's flying too close to the flames again, but luckily for him, this time he's just a reflection in the glass of the fire

Moth day today...
The Palm Moth... a nightmare, slowly killing it palms at the Chapel... I have to admit I've just treated the palms, so the moth may not be around much longer.
And the Hawks Head Death Moth caterpillar! How big is this giant...??! About 10cms long and amazing colourings. And what is that strange horn on its head..??!

Each morning we take George (the pooch!) for a 3km walk through the fields and vineyards surrounding the village. And each morning, pretty much without fail, we see deer and occasionally a fox or a hare. This morning we saw a deer standing between the vines and 15 minutes later, another. The grass in the fields is so long now it provides an ideal hiding space for these creatures, ideal as it's the time of year that deer are raising their young. What a great start to each day.

It's a great time to think of taking a break too. The weather is good and the temperature is a comfortable mid 20s. Why not treat yourself and spend a week away in the Chapel? We're trying to create relaxing areas for our guests in the shade, for those hot summer days when it's just nice to chill in comfort out of the glaring sun with a good book. So, this year we've introduced new garden furniture under the cover of the pool house and under the raised gazebo area.

Spring is definitely in the air. Warm sunny days and blossom on the trees.

What a great day to get out and about while Emma hosts one of her popular cookery classes. A visit to Issigeac market is always an enjoyable way to spend a Sunday morning, followed by a trip to the hilltop bastide of Monflquin.

Let's be honest, though. It was a chance for myself and the new love of my life to steal a few hours alone. She can be a handful, but once she's in the air, she tends to deliver! Drones are such fun!
