John, Matt and Nathan had a cracking week in early July (I know I'm late posting this 👀) and had 32 carp between them with 7 up to 39lb, 21 up to 29lb, and 12 up to 20lb. Made up of mirrors, commons and ghosties, which came both during the day and at night. Unfortunately the 40s and 50s eluded them!.
They were all fishing from the same bank to be within easy reach of each other and they were an absolute pleasure to have here, not forgetting Louise who isn't in the photos! Looking forward to the next time already 👍😉
Due to injury, we've had a cancellation for the week of: 14-21 September 2024.
This offer is for a maximum of 2 anglers, with accommodation sleeping up to 6 in 2 bedrooms. It is a Non-Exclusive week's fishing as there are two other anglers on a drive and survive basis on the lake that week.
Get in touch via message, phone call or email for more details 😉
Part 2 of Mark and Danny fishing....
Danny got himself a new PB of a 46lb mirror from the woodland swim (I'll put the PB video in the comments 😉) and the champagne was opened later 🍾🥂, though I'm not sure if Delores and Patsy got a look in 😆.
There were some lovely fish out including a 33lb mirror that looks bigger than the 46lb with such a wide head and shoulders. Mark had a beauty of a bonus scaly mirror after following some advice from Jon on a hot day. He went stalking to where Jon had seen mud plumes of fish feeding and landed the gorgeous 10lb scaly mirror, it made his day.
28 carp landed in total and there were also days out to local towns and markets too.
Loved having you all here and hope we get to see you again 😊
The end of June saw Mark and Danny arrive, and they got off to a great start in some lovely weather. Then... knowing a thunderstorm was on the way, we turned on extra aeration in preparation.
The storm arrived, moving so slowly, and it dumped so much rain in a couple of hours. The force of the incoming water was bending the fence, and it flooded the lake out onto the home meadow. Our basement got flooded too, as one of the pumps failed.
Mark and Danny were great (thanks again guys) and helped us to get the water at the lake moving another way to take some pressure off of the outlet, where the water was raging and moving debris and leaves with it. The clean-up and repairs took days, but all the carp were fine 😊 Video in the comments.
As a little thank you for all their help, we gave them a chilled bottle of our favourite champagne. They said they were going to save it for the 40lber, more in the next post...😉
Phil and Gary had a good week, fishing daytime only, and having days out with Dianna and Christine. The weather was changeable but certainly not cold. Lovely to meet all of you 😊
I'm so behind on some posts! Sorry!
Alex had a new PB of 35lb8oz (and escaped a soaking because he says he got well slapped by the carp 🤣🤣), and he had 25 in total with only a couple of nights. Katie, Buddy and Tilly had a great time too. So looking forward to next time 😊😊
Three new PBs for Michael, Carol, and Gordon with a lovely 37lb mirror brought in by Carol, a stunning common at 32lb8oz for Michael and a 28lb 4oz mirror for Gordon.
Michael did so much of the hard work, getting spots baited and rods out for everyone. Then, shared the catches, what a champ 🏆 👏 👏
On Wednesday we went to our nearby town of Cosse-le-Vivien to see the Olympic Flame on it's journey. A damp day but it didn't stop everyone putting on a good show. Well done Ville de Cossé-le-Vivien 👏 👏👏👏

These two came in within minutes of each other. A cracking 46lb8oz for Ray and a lovely 30lb3oz for Steve 😀 Also some catch and release shots.
Darren fished most days, no nights, and had some nice carp with two up to 30lb, which included mirrors, commons, and a lovely ghostie.
Days were mostly good for weather, with some nice sunny spells, but nights were cold.
A day out to Laval, by the river, was also part of the week.
On Wednesday 29th May, the Olympic Flame is coming to our department of Mayenne, and is passing through the nearby town of Cosse-le-vivien! 😁 Only 10 mins from us.
Despite some cold nights with some frost and heavy showers, Phil and Sue carried on catching some good carp with Phil having some crackers during the night. Daytimes became lovely and sunny towards the end of the week 🌞
Total for the week was the 41lb12oz common, 7 30's, 7 20's and 3 from 9-18lb.
The first two days produced some lovely fish including a 41lb12oz common for Phil and a 33lb common for Sue, along with mirrors of 20lb, 26lb and 31lb. All from our new double swim. The weather has been true April showers but with some lovely sunshine too 🌞👍
A fantastic week for Lee and his family!!! Lee was setting the rods and the family had the chance to land fish too. A total of 28 carp (and a Tench), with new PBs for Lauren and 2 of the children, of 44lb8oz, 24lb14oz and 22lb 😁 with the usual bucket of water 🤣
The numbers included one 40, eight 30s, seventeen 20s and two doubles.
Our Treasure Hunt was combined with an Easter Egg Hunt and went down a treat!
We had a blast with you guys and can't wait for your next visit 🥰
What a cracking start to the season and what a start to the week for Lee!!
Rods out for an hour and away one went with a 30lb12oz mirror. Followed by mirrors of 38lb8oz, 24lb, 30lb8oz and 31lb.
Lauren then landed a stunning 44lb8oz common and got a new PB and a soaking 😆 Nice one Lauren, and Lee was so pleased for Lauren too 😊

These two mirrors came out today for Mick - a cracking 25lb scaley, and a beautiful 50lb that took off like a train. They absolutely made his day, including a new PB 😁😉
Get in touch if you're interested in this week, or any other dates, including 2025 and 2026,
OH YEAH!!! Always knew there was gold on that spot 😉 Like a nice golden ghost koi perhaps?
Only one week's fishing left in April (13-20th) and three weeks left in October this year. And October can be stunning here! 🌞 Drop us a message or email to sort your holiday.
Well the wind last week hit us too, with us losing a big sycamore near our house, a massive poplar in the lake 🙄 and a some branches down elsewhere.
After a lot of very hard work by Jon, the poplar is out of the lake and cut ready to split for logs and for chipping. The sycamore is mostly cut (some by me) and ready for splitting. Loads of poplar branches have been removed from the lake to prevent snagging later. No more wind please 🙏

A chance to put the rods out between winter jobs for Jon was well rewarded 😁
First off a lovely 33lb mirror off the island, followed a bit later by a stunning 48lb15oz mirror from the outlet.
I (Lel) was running about taking fish photos (whilst cooking dinner) and another rod went off when the 2nd mirror was on. Now, it's not often I'm called on to pick up a rod, but had to.
Both of us thought that the carp Jon had on had tangled the line, but no! Another carp on... I had it right to the swim and it did some kind of back flip and was off 😪 What an exciting Sunday afternoon 😉😊

Lel and Jon Miller had the dream to move to France many years ago but the time was not right. Then in August 2018 everything just started to click into place. Lel’s job was at risk, Jon needed a change from the same old job, and importantly both children were both happily in their own homes.
Almost immediately we found and fell in love with Les Ravalières in the Pays de la Loire between Rennes and Le Mans. A totally enclosed property with a gatehouse to convert into our Gite, family home for us, and the all important lake built by Mr Gallien for his family.
We had wanted to move to France for a long time, 2018 was THE time! Our dream home with carp lake was bought and we were on our way!
It was meant to be, obviously.
“The stars aligned”, “ducks in a row” so to speak!
Things moved quickly and we moved in December 2018! Selling our house, finding and completing on our new home in a few short months.
Christmas 2018 was spent at Les Ravalières with Jim the Giant Schnauzer and work started on the grounds, lake and renovating and converting the gatehouse into a comfortable and relaxing holiday Gite.
We have worked hard converting the gatehouse into a relaxing Gite for couples, families and fishing groups.
We know that not everyone wants to fish so we have made a holiday venue where you can relax in the garden, endulge in the Jacuzzi/hot tub - maybe with a beer or glass of wine?
We have stocked our lake with mirror and common carp ranging up to 40lb. The lake is also home to some zander, pike, roach and rudd.
Please come to Les Ravalières and and have your holiday with us and share our little piece of heaven :)
