TRAVEL NOTES By Clare ~ Turks & Caicos

The term ‘barefoot luxury’ is used a lot, but COMO Parrot Cay, a luxury resort set on its own private Caribbean island where I spent 4 nights, is the very epitome of such a claim. From the food and the high level of service to the beachfront villas and vast turquoise ocean.

Days here are slow and utterly relaxing, we glided from breakfast to lunch to dinner, each occasion being a complete treat. For those wanting to be a little more active, the resort has bikes and paddleboards; you can kayak through the mangroves and the boat trips out to the sand bar and other cays are a must. The Shambhala Spa can’t go unmentioned either – after a 9-hour flight in economy class, the Shambhala Signature massage was the best welcome gift I’ve ever received!

The pace quickened once I left Parrot Cay and arrived on Providenciales or ‘Provo’ as it’s known locally. I loved Wymara Resort (& Villas) on Grace Bay beach which is home to Turks & Caicos’ no.1 rated restaurant ‘Indigo’ where lobster features heavily on the menu – the 'Sustainably Harvested Fresh Local Turks Lobster Tail – chargrilled with egg fried rice' was to die for.

Time was running out and I am so glad I managed to squeeze my last night on Ambergris Cay Private Island Resort. A 30-minute 10-seater plane ride away, this 1,100-acre island sits on the southeast corner of the Turks & Caicos Islands and it’s so much FUN! Minutes after landing, I found myself behind the wheel of a golf buggy – mine for the duration of my stay!

I packed a lot in - from a heavenly massage to a seafood BBQ dinner, a tour of the island to see some of the beautiful Hamptons-style villas and a speedboat ride out to ‘Hangover’ a floating Tiki Bar anchored off Little Ambergris Cay where I was greeted by Pedro and his lethal rum cocktails!

As they say, ‘All good things come to an end’ and before I knew it there I was - back on the plane ear plugs in, eye mask on, in preparation for the night flight home.

My camera roll is awash with hues of turquoise, punctuated with bright cocktails and pink lobster tails the memories of which will get me through these grey old winter days!

2025 TRAVEL TRENDS ~ By founder Philippa

If you have missed my previous posts, I'm taking over the F&P Instagram to share my thoughts on the 2025 luxury travel trends.

Last week I spoke about two key trends we, at F&P see emerging in the travel industry - sustainable travel and wellness retreats. Here are the next two:

3. **Remote Work Travel**: The rise of remote work has led to “workations,” where people combine work and leisure. We’re seeing more interest in destinations that offer a conducive environment for working while traveling. Case in point, we are always doing this and would love to do more of it!

4. **Cultural Immersion**: Travellers are looking for deeper connections with local cultures. This plays into our point on conversation… Authentic experiences, such as cooking classes or guided tours led by local experts, are gaining popularity – Jo’s recent trip to India is a prime example of this, as is Holly and my trip to Indonesia.

Keep an eye out for my post next week, with my final two trends.

If you have any questions about these trends you can ask me in the comments, or if you're ready to discuss your travel plans for 2025, get in touch with the incredible F&P team [email protected]

EXPERIENCE THIS IN 2025

#5 SWIM WITH WHALE SHARKS 🐋

The largest and most gentle of all the sharks, in tropical waters. A once-in-a-lifetime encounter, this extraordinary experience allows you to snorkel alongside these majestic ocean giants, making unforgettable memories.

Mexico is considered one of the best locations in the world (June to September), or the Maldives is your go-to for any time of the year.

2025 TRAVEL TRENDS ~ By founder Philippa

If you missed my post last week, I'm taking over the F&P Instagram to share my thoughts on some key insights in luxury travel for 2025.

We have found people are looking for meaningful travel, and experiential travel – they are more mindful about where they are going, what they are doing, and even why they are going.
So, looking ahead at what we believe are the trends in this more meaningful travel..

1. **Sustainable Travel**: More travellers are prioritising eco-friendly options. Whether it’s choosing carbon-neutral accommodations or supporting local conservation efforts, sustainability is becoming essential. Hols and I have been really inspired by the conservation projects we’ve come across through our own travels and as a result F&P is now a member of The Conscious Travel Foundation.

2. **Wellness Retreats**: The demand for wellness-focused holiday is rising. Wrung out mums, fast pace life, addicted to our phones…A good spa is now becoming essential for every luxury hotel. From yoga retreats to spa getaways, people are seeking experiences that rejuvenate both body and mind.

Keep an eye out for my posts over the coming weeks, as I share more trends we see emerging for 2025 travel x Philippa

EXPERIENCE THIS IN 2025

#4 SLEEP IN AN IGLOO UNDER THE NORTHERN LIGHTS 🌛 Imagine snuggling up and getting cosy in a beautifully sculpted igloo under the magical Northern Lights. A stay in Sweden’s legendary Ice Hotel, located in the heart of the Arctic Circle, with the backdrop of the Northern Lights offers this surreal experience and more.

The individually hand-carved Art Suites are crafted by artists from all over the world, selected from over 200 applicants and invited to bring their visions to life in snow and ice. Each suite is one-of-a-kind, available from December to April, and holds a steady temperature of -5 to -8°C. You’ll sleep on a thick mattress covered in reindeer hides, with a thermal sleeping bag for warmth. Privacy is created with drawn curtains rather than doors, adding to the unique experience.

Don’t miss out on this bucket-list stay—cosy up in a stunning Arctic masterpiece that melts away each spring, leaving room for fresh creativity each winter. ✨

TRAVEL NOTES by Jo ~ India

Our F&P discovery trips are imperative to not only find the best possible hotels, but also to sample some magical experiences that we can then organise for our guests. This means that when we tailor-make any F&P holiday it’s not just good, it’s incredible, packed full of special memories for you to take home with you.

On my trip to India, we packed in around six weeks of experiences into a twelve-night stay.

I was lucky enough to enjoy an early morning tour of the City Palace in Udiapur before the doors were open to the public; breakfast with elephants at an elephant sanctuary; sunset champagne tours with the curator from Mehrangarh fort in Jodphur; some of the most incredible hotel welcome ceremonies; Tuk Tuk, bicycle and Rickshaw tours. India really is a country where nothing is too much trouble and anything can be arranged.

To top it all off, I had one of the most unforgettable evenings I have ever experienced in all my years of travel at Jaipur’s City Palace. From the procession, entertainment and Thali dinner in the state blue room at the top of the city palace. I can’t go into more detail as it would ruin the surprise for future F&P guests!

There is so much to do and see in India—the art is weaving it all together in a way that allows you to take it all in and enjoy moments of R&R— is where I come in. It is a holiday after all!

I can't wait to help you plan an unforgettable escape to India, get in touch via email or Whatsapp today.

PLAN YOUR 2025 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

School holidays are notorious for higher prices and limited availability. Our tip for getting the best rates and rooms? Book early! We are almost into December, meaning Easter and May half-term need to be on your to-book list, right now.

MAY HALF TERM
It's the quintessential calm before the storm, the last opportunity to take the kids away before the inevitable crowds descend for the summer. It's also a great opportunity to try somewhere you might not have considered visiting.

F&P Recommends:
✨ Younger Children – Southern Spain
The summer crowds and scorching weather is yet to arrive. We love the Marbella Club for its incredible Kids Club, spacious playground and family-oriented activities.

✨ Tweens & Teens – Sweden
Long days, mild temperatures and barely a soul to be seen, this is Sweden in May. It's an outdoor enthusiast's playground, with peaceful lakeside retreats, quiet forest trails, kayaking, fishing, white water rafting, and much more to keep the whole family entertained.

SUMMER HOLIDAYS
With a full six weeks to fill, planning a once-in-a-lifetime holiday that keeps the entire family happy and creates memories they'll talk about for years to come is sure to be a top priority.

✨ Younger Children – Kenya
The people are friendly and welcoming, the safaris are child-friendly, and you can finish off your action packed holiday with a few days at the beach.

✨ Tweens & Teens – Zimbabwe
Home to the unmistakable Victoria Falls, the endangered white rhino, vast landscapes, and archaeological ruins. When you're not getting up close and personal with the wildlife you can enjoy river cruises, white water rafting, canopy tours or just relax by the pool.

SKI TRAIN TO THE ALPS

The Eurostar ski train is back this winter, providing a direct route from London to the French Alps. It departs from St. Pancras International on Saturday mornings between December and March.

The train stops at Moûtiers, the closest station to Méribel and our F&P Chalets. It offers a more eco-friendly travel option, with a generous luggage allowance that includes skis and snowboards at no extra cost.

An alternative travel route involves taking the Eurostar to Paris or Lille, and then a direct train to Moûtiers, which offers more flexibility on departure days.

Once guests arrive at Moûtiers train station, we offer complementary pickups for guests staying in any of our F&P chalets.

If you're considering taking the land route this winter, get in touch with Clare to plan the best route for you and your group [email protected]

JUST BOOKED ~ 10 DAYS in Zambia

Jo has just booked the holiday of a lifetime for an F&P family heading on safari.

Starting in the birthplace of the walking safari, South Luangwa, the family will spend 4 nights in chic yet rustic bush camp with incredible guides. Known as the "Valley of the Leopard," this park offers exceptional leopard sightings, along with hippos, crocodiles, elephants, and predators drawn to the river’s fertile banks.

Next, they’ll head to the Lower Zambezi for another four nights. Here, they’ll glide down the river by boat, spotting elephants and tiger fishing to their heart’s content. This 4,500 square-kilometer reserve offers spectacular wildlife densities, with game drives and canoe safaris revealing large herds of elephants, buffalo, and zebra. A canoe safari along the Zambezi is an absolute must for the full Lower Zambezi experience.

A family safari is an investment, so making sure it’s organised by someone who understands how to craft the perfect, memorable experience is key. With Jo's expertise, you’ll know your trip is worth every penny. Get in touch to start planning your family Safari [email protected]

PLAN YOUR 2025 SCHOOL HOLIDAYS

School holidays are notorious for higher prices and limited availability. Our tip for getting the best rates and rooms? Book early! It may seem simple, but getting in early, really does make all the difference.

So what do you need to be booking and planning right now? Ideally, EASTER!

Here are the F&P recommendations for the start of 2025:

FEB HALF-TERM
With ski resorts now pretty booked up for Feb half-term. Why not head to somewhere warm for some winter sunshine? Dubai and Abu Dhabi are perfect at this time of year and they have SO much to do to keep the whole family entertained.

EASTER
The two-week Easter break allows for plenty of time for long haul flights to those far-flung destinations. You can fit in travel and adventuring without running short on time.

F&P Recommends
✨ Younger children - Antigua
If you've had enough of the cold weather and looking to celebrate the holidays in a more tropical destination then look no further than the sun-kissed waters of the Caribbean.

✨ Tweens or teens - Indonesia
Home to temples, beaches, rice paddies, mouthwatering cuisine and friendly locals, its a holiday they will never forget.

Now is the time to book your half-term and easter breaks - get in touch with the team today [email protected]

TRAVEL NOTES FROM GEMMA

Removing my travel consultant hat for a moment, I didn’t know what to expect from Finnish Lapland – was it going to be this tourist ‘Father Christmas Experience’ I had read about? I feared that this was going to distract from the country itself. Any fears I had were quickly dispelled on arrival at Ivalo airport – some 300km north of Rovaniemi (known for its Santa excursions), the northern Finnish Lapland experience is so much more… large expanses of stunning forest all sprinkled in snow, pastel coloured skies and long straight roads that could go on forever. Although you don’t need to hire a car, we did, and set off to explore what Lapland had in store.

Twilight revealed huge lakes, fells, reindeer on the side of the road and very little else. This is wild nature both on land and in the sky. After driving into the wilderness we found lodges mostly comprising of log cabins, miles of fairy lights and buildings with a warm glow protruding from the front doors.

It feels silly saying this given that it is dark most of the time but good accommodation is judged on your view. Like you would stare out at the sea, when the surrounding nature it reveals itself you could spend hours gazing into space looking for animals and when it is too dark for nature then you move onto your search for the Northern lights.

Having visited the lodges now we feel like we can guide and advise on the best accommodation options with the best views and can recommend great experiences to fill your days in this magical place. If you had asked me a few days ago whether I liked snowshoeing I had no idea.. one of the best things I have ever done!

Booking early is important, you are only here once or twice in your lifetime so you need to get it right. You only need 3 or 4 nights so my recommendation would be to carve out some dates in December 2026 and get it booked in. As I write all the best lodges are booked for this year.

JO'S INDIA MUSINGS

It's hard not to be 'wowed' by the rich Rajasthani culture with the sights, the sounds and the tastes.

Rajasthan is known as the 'Land of the Kings' and by visiting its beautiful forts and palaces a story of India’s past unravels to tell you more about its rulers of old and their influence.

This history helps explain the inter-woven cultures of modern day India that is so evident today. It really does make this country even more fascinating then I could have ever imagined and I cannot wait to return.

EXPERIENCE THIS IN 2025

As we look ahead to 2025, it's all about elevating your holidays—embracing travel experiences that go beyond the destination, allowing you to truly immerse, connect, and get more from every moment. As Mark Twain said “Twenty years from now, you’ll be more disappointed by the things that you didn’t do, than by the ones you did”.

Keep an eye on our instagram for where we will be sharing some of our favourite travel experiences from around the world. Follow the hashtag so you don't miss a post.

Sleep under the stars of an African sky, to the sounds of the savannah – according to our Head of Marketing, it’s one of the best things she’s ever done. Here are two of our favourite places for 2025:

✨ Chiawa Camp in Zambia - Fall asleep under the stars in their Starbed an elevated, open-air sleeping platform. This special experience is set up in a private, remote location within the camp and offers a more immersive way to experience the natural surroundings and all the noises on the Zambezi River.

✨ The Baobab Treehouse in Botswana is a dramatic under-the-stars experience fit for royalty. Ascend the winding staircase inside its trunk to discover three levels of private, sprawling abode. It promises an unforgettable, star-studded night in your very own Faraway Tree in the glorious middle of nowhere.

Do you want to make 2025 a year to remember? Turn your bucket list into a book-it list.
