800m away from L'Eau Salée as the 'corbeau' flies, the wine domain of the Gely family. A critic wrote the following about this excellent wine..

"Ce remarquable Ventoux rouge Les Essareaux 2016, 90% Syrah et 10% Grenache, issu de vieilles vignes élevé en fûts pendant 12 mois, de bouche riche, tout en couleur, très aromatique, avec ces notes subtiles d’humus et de petits fruits rouges surmûris, très charpenté (10 €)"

This remarkable red Ventoux "Les Essareaux 2016", 90% Syrah and 10% Grenache, from mature vines aged in oak casks for 12 months, rich on the palate and in colour, with subtle notes of hummus and overripe red berries, very full-bodied..."

There are some great little restaurants in the Provencal hinterland. Malaucene may only have 2 804 inhabitants, but it's packed with everything a visitor could ask for. Compare it with a similar size village in touristic Devon UK for example. Half a dozen restaurants, pizzerias, at least as many bars, a butcher, hairdressers, bike shops, garages, three bakers, a deli, clothes shop, bank, post office, antiques, supermarket, and...well I'll add to the list when it all comes back to me.

As for restaurants, Chez Max Malaucene is one of my favourites.
