Just 15 minutes away by car is a very notable place - Alise Sainte Reine aka Alesia, the site of the last stand of the Gauls against Caesar.

A visit to this hilltop village is a must for its most amazing views over the rolling landscape of the Pays de l'Auxois but more importantly it's also home to our favourite pottery.

The joy of Sundays in France. A 'vide grenier' trip to Saulieu, the home of the 2 michelin star Le Relais Bernard L'Oiseau and spa and .

A beautiful 45 minute drive from the house.

We always play the 1 euro 'secret gift challenge' - some great articles gifted!

You don't have to go all the way to Beaune for a great tasting experience.

Domaine Aurelien Febvre, 20 minutes from the house, produces natural organic wines including a vin orange which is matured in teracotta pots from Tuscany.

Burgundy is after all the new Tuscany!

Rainy days are great respite from the beating sun. Time to hunker down in the salon with a good book, a game, laughter and chatter. Perfect!

Les jours de pluie sont un excellent répit par rapport au soleil qui tape. C'est le moment de se réfugier dans le salon avec un bon livre, un jeu, des rires et des bavardages. C'est parfait !

In French there's a wonderful word " l'allure" which means chic, elegant and distinguished. Adopted into English to describe the quality of being 'powerfully and mysteriously attractive or fascinating', it is a perfectly fitting word for La Maison Lemoine.
