When you stay at Les Hirondelles I can give you some great bike routes both on and off road. There are endless quiet roads and tracks around here just waiting to be discovered. Got out yesterday for the first ride since Xmas. Dirty roads and gravel tracks over the plateau and down to Beynac. Here is a bike shot with the famous chateau. So much biking on offer in the Dordogne and I’m happy to help you plan routes. We can also recommend a trusted bike hire company if you can’t bring your own. Just another reason to come and stay in our accommodation here at Les Hirondelles.

Dear Friends of Les Hirondelles. Difficult times for all of us. Quick post to let you know that we are managing our bookings on a case by case basis and making the right calls with our guests as and when we approach the dates for their holiday. Where possible guests are moving their bookings to later in the season or into next season. This is in line with the recommendation from the French government who seek to protect the tourist industry without leaving holidaymakers out of pocket with no holiday to look forward to. If you wish to discuss your booking then please do contact us. Remember, this too shall pass, a new (and better) normal will assert itself, you will be able to travel and we shall be here to host you at Les Hirondelles. All the best to you and your families. Thousands of cranes flying back north over the Dordogne this last couple of days. The local council is repairing the roads and I shared the garden this afternoon with butterflies and bees and had to seek out the shade - it was so WARM! Summer is coming - YAY!

Ridley Scott is in the Dordogne shooting his latest movie, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck are starring. Filming started this morning at Beynac Chateau and they will also go to Monpazier. Two Dordogne hotspots that are only 20 mins from us here at Les Hirondelles. Le tournage du film "Le dernier duel" de Ridley Scott a commencé pour de bon à Beynac ce lundi matin, sous une pluie fine. Les figurants sont arrivés sur les parkings dès 4h45

I gave the Mulberry Tree a damn good pollarding. See before and after photos. Will try to remember to post one when it's back in full bloom. It's amazing how much it grows in a single season - more than enough to provide welcome shade in the courtyard.

Just back after wonderful Christmas hols in the UK and what a day in the Dordogne. Perfect cloud inversion in the valleys and wall to wall sunshine up here at Les Hirondelles. Happy days!
