Could not be more excited about the potential for this to be happening! If anyone fancies joining me for a cheeky ski weekend, drop me a line 😃
WILL OPEN EARLY? You guys, filling up the inbox with this question this morning…
🔮🔮🔮 Avoriaz 1800 is scheduled to open on Friday 15th December for the Rock On Snow festival. Now, there’s currently 50cm of snow at resort level (1800m), so imagine the depth of the the base at the top of the Arare / Fornet / Mossettes. And it’s still coming down.
Based on previous winters, Avoriaz 1800 always opens early for pre-season weekends from the beginning of December, IF CONDITIONS ALLOW. It takes the team no time at all to get the pistes ready, if there’s sufficient snow on them. So, we can imagine that will open early if the cold temps stay and the snow keeps falling, but that's not a given. Stay tuned because I will OF COURSE keep everyone updated. Let’s cross our fingers in the meantime.

When you don’t have a tape measure handy to measure the snow, just use your legs 😂

If you ever wondered what the Alps was like in Autumn, here’s your answer. People smiling, the sun shining, amazing colour, peace, slow change, and a feeling of being very tiny on this earth as your environment lets you know that winter is coming!
If anyone fancies an autumn break next year, hit me up for direct booking.

My new favourite lunch spot 🥰 . It has a great menu for lunch (top marks for more than one veggie friendly option), nice coffee, little sweet treats and a quirky interior. In the summer their terrace is super cute too.

The opening of the pool marks official Morzine Summer Season in our humble opinion. Agree?

What’s missing from this pic? I can’t even blame first day faff, it’s almost the end of the season 😂😂

🇬🇧 If you ever wondered what it was like here in the off-season, here is your answer. Just stunning.
🇫🇷 Si jamais vous avez vous demandé comment c'était ici entre les saisons, voici est la réponse. Absolument sublime.

There is much more to do in a ski resort than ski if you set your mind to it, or even if you don't ☺️

Weekends here aren't just about skiing! Running in the snow involves sliding, landing on your bum, laughing, and working out how to not lose your leg down a hole!
Les weekends ici ne sont pas juste pour faire du ski. Vous pourriez courir dans la neige aussi, qui comprend rire, tomber sur les fesses, glisser et essayer de ne pas laisser tomber tes jambes dans un trou !

Back to school time!
After a couple of years of not skiing a lot, and then trying every other kind of skiing there is when the lifts were closed last year, it's perhaps not surprising that my alpine skiing (chair lift assisted), had become a little wobbly. Having given it a go on my own for the last few weeks and just feeling frustrated, I decided it was high time to get myself back to school. And boy was it worth it. I skied on my own after a quick 2 hour lesson with .morzine and was more or less the last one home. Thank you , you confidence inspiring legend👌🤩

Sometimes the best bits are best kept secret, no? Put a little effort in in Morzine, and you can definitely escape the madding crowd and enjoy your own pistes in top condition 🤩

Peak-a-boo! The weather could just not be better out here in the Alps. The town has a buzz, and everyone is super stoked that the lifts are running 😁

Crazy snow!! Still have a few days at Christmas available due to a cancellation, get in touch if that appeals :-)

The snow is coming!

Super pleased with the transformation of the terrace at The River Pad and how welcoming it now feels as a space. Morzine is a great place to be in the summer with plenty going on, and this will be the perfect place to chill out after a day on the hill. I've loved pulling this together and now am very much looking forward to sharing it with guests and seeing what they think to it 😃

Tried something a little different this weekend - off piste on skinny skis in the Jura. Brilliant fun!

Who's coming this way?

Days like these... the lifts being closed has forced us all to do something different. Whether that's a go at ski de fond, ski randonnée, snow shoeing, or wild swimming. It's still entirely possible to enjoy this beautiful place on earth without mechanical assistance (except your own of course)

Went a bit blimmin nuts yesterday at the lake. Has anyone else tried this? It's a great way to make you laugh and to challenge yourself.
Actually not as hard as you might think, and really exhilarating - come and try it!

Lac Léman en Février... Warm enough to swim in! An hour, but a world away from Morzine.

Saharan sands allowed to travel... Still no chair lifts though! Have you ever seen anything like it?!

We first fell in love with Morzine in 2016 when we camped there before taking part in the Etape du Tour. That year the stage for amateurs started in Megeve and finished in Morzine. After waking up and looking out over the stunning mountain view from Essert Romand we were hooked.
The River Pad, a small studio close to the centre of Morzine is our base there. It’s a 3 minute walk down hill to Rue du Bourg, and even less to the lovely Hideout Hostel which has a lovely bar and does great food.
Morzine offers a great base for cycling and walking in the summer, and has a huge following of keen mountain bikers. The town comes alive during the summer season, when events such as the annual Spartan race and Harley-Davidsons ‘Harley Days’ bring people back year after year. Annecy, Lake Geneva, and Chamonix are all within easy reach giving plenty of options for day trips - although we would fully recommend staying more local and taking advantage of everything that the area has to offer.
In the winter the Portes du Soleil ski area gives you a huge ski area with everything from nice easy beginner slopes to help you build your confidence to the famous ‘Swiss Wall’ and off-piste areas.
We think you’ll like it, but don’t just take our word for it - check out our reviews on AirBnB.
