Even though it should have the same stature as it does in the USA, university athletics are often replaced by club sports in France, and Europe in general. In light of this, Paris Challenge was born. Students are more and more invested, motivated, and energetic when it comes to succeeding in both their studies and sports activities. They deserve to be offered the best conditions for their success.
Furthermore, Paris is unquestionably rich in culture, easy to reach, and historically the home of sport enthusiasts. Nevertheless, the city of Light has so far not been given the chance to host an international tournament that provides an opportunity for universities around the world to compete. This is why a group of selected sport experts have joined their efforts to create the PARIS CHALLENGE association in order to create this international university sports tournament. This event is realized in partnership with STADE FRANCAIS, which is an historical (since 1883) and very popular parisian sports union. The term « challenge » was unanimously chosen because it is a strong and meaningful word that symbolizes the self-transcendence, the sacrifice, and the effort that it takes to win a championship. It also alludes to respect, humility, and cooperation. GOALS:
The PARIS CHALLENGE association has gathered the experience and the expertise of many college sports enthusiasts with four main objectives in mind:
- Promote college sports in all its dimensions (sport, identity, fraternity);
- Offer a worldwide event through a high-level sports competition in a friendly atmosphere;
- Foster better relations and exchanges between students from all over the world ;
- Leave an everlasting memory in the minds of the students through the discovery of Paris, the City of Lights. FRENCH VERSION
Le Paris Challenge est né du constat qu’en France et en Europe, le sport universitaire est souvent délaissé au profit du sport fédéral, en club, alors qu’il mériterait une place bien plus importante, à l’image de ce qui se fait aux Etats-Unis. Les étudiants sont, chaque jour, investis, motivés, dynamiques pour mener à bien leurs études et faire du sport en parallèle; ils méritent qu’on leur offre des conditions de pratique de qualité. D’autre part, l’attrait que représente Paris est incontestable du fait de sa richesse culturelle, son accessibilité géographique et son rapport historique au sport. Pourtant, « la ville lumière » ne bénéficiait pas jusque là d’un événement sportif universitaire à portée internationale, permettant aux universités du monde entier de se défier. Le terme « challenge » a été unanimement choisi car c’est un symbole fort à nos yeux, chargé de sens, représentant le dépassement de soi, l’abnégation, la notion d’effort pour décrocher la victoire et la conquête d’un trophée. Des experts universitaires et sportifs se sont réunis pour mettre en synergie leurs compétences, en créant l’association PARIS CHALLENGE, afin de proposer le tournoi international universitaire multisports du même nom. Des étudiants participent activement à l’organisation du projet sportif au sein de pôles liés à la logistique du tournoi. L’événement est réalisé en partenariat avec le STADE FRANCAIS, club parisien omnisports historique et très populaire. OBJECTIFS :
- Promouvoir le sport universitaire dans toutes ses dimensions (sportive, identitaire, fraternelle);
- Proposer un événement d’envergure internationale à travers un tournoi sportif de haut niveau dans une ambiance conviviale;
- Favoriser les rencontres, les échanges et le partage entre les étudiants du monde entier;
- Laisser un souvenir impérissable aux étudiants en leur permettant de voyager et de découvrir la culture française avec sa plus belle représentante : Paris, la ville lumière.
