Getting inside the church Sacré-Cœur Basilica, you will be enchanted by the mystical atmosphere. The massive mosaic under the altar describing Christ in Glory is the largest mosaic of France and among the largest mosaics in the world. There is no ticket to get in, but it is possible to wait in the queue a little bit for the security check. Taking photos is not allowed inside the basilica.

Since the island had once been the heart of the city, the remnants of royal buildings are still around. Conciergerie had ironically served the royalties in the medieval times, but it was used as well as a courthouse and prison during the revolution. Just next door, Saint-Chapelle was the most prestigious shrine for royals that still stuns the visitors today.

The avenue Champs-Élysées is called the "most beautiful boulevard in the world" for a reason. Visited by 300 000 of people everyday, the avenue Champs-Élysées is in the list of top attractions in Paris. Champs-Élysées is also known for its theaters, cafes, shopping stores and cinemas. Although the Champs-Élysées has an image of refinement, there are many affordable places that cater to tourists and students on a budget, such as the Disney toy store, Starbucks, Quick, Burger King, and McDonald's.

Galeries Lafayette Paris Haussmann is probably the grandest department store you’ll ever visit. The hundred year old building is an Art Nouveau masterpiece, from the golden balconies to the iconic dome made of steel and stained glass. For a closer look at the splendid Coupole, stroll along the third floor’s glass walkway, which stretches over 29 feet. You want to grab a snack ? The center provides a very high quality of food and service at the restaurants. The most renowned one is Creatures Paris, with a complete city view on the top of the building. There is nothing like it!

Simone de Beauvoir, Jean-Paul Sartre and Karl Lagerfeld, who lived nearby, were frequent guests here. Even today, it is still popular with literary men and intellectuals.

The café de Flore, which opened in 1887, owes its name to the goddess Flora, whose statue stood on the opposite side of the street. Interesting souvenirs are sold in the attached souvenir shop.

The Municipality of Paris created a genious system for bicycle sharing (The Vélib). Using a bike is among the most entertaining and environmentalist way of discovering Paris. 🚲

The Velib', a combination of the words Vélo and Liberté meaning “bike freedom,” sought to reduce the number of cars and encourage people to enjoy the beauty of Paris by bike. ✌🏻 🚴
