Bike About Tours

Bike About Tours We work out of our café, Le Peloton, in the Marais. We decided that travelers were a bit tired of only seeing the big tourist sites- in huge groups.

Bike About Tours is a small, locally owned tour company in Paris, France, featuring small group tours for all ages of Paris by day and night, Versailles, and Champagne. Bike About Tours began in 2006, as a small, grassroots bike tour company showing travelers the 'real' Paris on bikes. That's when we decided to design a more personal tour, which shows people the neighborhoods where we live our liv

es, our favourite bars & cafes, the best markets, the tastiest baguettes, etc. It's really like friends showing friends around the city.

Meet the tour guide! This is Simon! A “Brit-stralian”, with impeccable humor, he’s know for his constant fun facts, side streets, space invader knowledge, impressions, and an accent that confuses everyone, including himself! We have been so lucky to have him on our team, and everyone who has been on his tour loves him! Have you been on Simon’s tour?

We won’t be posting any Paris or tourism based content on here for the next week, joining other small communities and shops across the world in an effort to mute the chatter of our daily lives and amplify what does matter: Black Lives. We may continue share stories or post resources for you. If you are feeling stuck and don’t know where to start, here are some accounts to get you started. The advice you need to be a white or non-back ally can be found in the feed and the stories of many of these activists. We urge you to do the work, read the literature, listen to the BIPOC community, and stand for what’s right. Here are some resources to start:

Vélos à louer et à vendre! 🚴🏼Bikes for rent and for sale! 🚴🏽‍♀️What does a Bike Tour company do during the Summer when travel is mostly prohibited? We rent out our trusty steeds! One of the safest ways to travel right now is to avoid public transit and cycle around town. We’re slashing our prices and offering affordable rentals this Summer - everyone should have the opportunity for safe travel. For 10 euros a day, 15 euros a weekend, or 25 euros a week (that’s right!) you can rent one of our sturdy city bikes with a lock and a key. For a couple bucks extra, you can rent a brand new helmet, too. Shoot us a message here, or swing by for more details. 🚲

Paris has (semi) reopened! If you follow our sister company, , you’ll already be up to date! The café remains closed for hanging out, but we are open for delicious take away coffee and waffles. ☕️ We also have plenty of bikes available for purchase or rent. Paris is growing more and more bike friendly by the minute, so now’s your chance to begin a new commuting adventure! The open air is safer than the public transit right now, you’ll get exercise, and you’re able to see even more of this beautiful city! Swing by Le Peloton Café for more details. The river banks are open - this could be you! 🚲 We also have amazing Peloton Merch and local coffee available for delivery - just check out the café instagram for more details. Say safe & thank you for your continued support! 🙏🏼

Ever wonder what would happen if a child fell into the grand canal at Versailles? It’s our last official night of confinement, and our tour guide Joshua, pictured here in Paris, has written a post about just that. Link in bio for all the crazy details! 🚲
Tomorrow Paris will begin to gradually reopen, but still keep heavy restrictions in place. We’re enthusiastic about getting back on our personal bikes and seeing some of our beautiful city again - of course, wearing masks and not in groups! Our café will be open for take away only from tomorrow at 10h. See you, however fleetingly, soon! ☀️

No more winter coats these days in Paris! It’s beautiful and sunny ☀️and the streets are, well, still empty. We wish every day that we could be on tour 🚲, but we know we’ll be back at it someday. This is a photo from a new stop on our Paris Day tour, and the guy in the hat is Joshua- one of our fabulous guides. Joshua, like many guides here at bike about, has some pretty crazy stories from being on tour! One of them will be on our blog later this week. For how, head on over to the blog (link in bio) to learn a little more from about what it was like during the first season at Bike About. Don’t worry- we’ll let you know on social media whenever there’s a new post so you don’t miss some wacky tales!

Mini boss-men! Big smiles from two of the owners’ five kids on our family tour day - post hot chocolate of course! 🤪 We miss our goofy, fun, and family filled Peloton hub, and our home away from home community of tourists. Our new quarantine extension date is May 11 - we’ll tell you more when we know more! 🚴🏽‍♀️

We're missing these community filled days at our Bike About office and café - Le Peloton Café - a lot lately. Catching up with friends over a good coffee, hanging out with the regulars, taking groups out on tours - letting the kids run wild outdoors! Nobody knows what will change in Paris from week to week right now, but we're patiently (ok maybe not so patiently) awaiting the day we get to open our doors again!
🚴🏽‍♀️Believe it or not, our bike tours are 100% suitable for gaggles of children just like these! We have a range of bikes available for children and families of all ages and sizes, and our routes are tried, true, safe, and fun. Our guides are pros at keeping kids entertained and adults engaged... so when you're looking for a fun, educational excursion in the city of lights (when you're allowed outside again, that is), you know where to find us - your friends in Paris! 💫

Cheers to another week over in quarantine! As it stands, we’re allowed to leave the house for an hour at a time as long as we stay within a kilometre of our homes. And, of course, we must have a form filled out saying what we are doing: exercise, grocery store, etc. We hope to be able to hang out with our community at the café again sooner rather than later, but we understand and fully support the quarantine and its necessity in flattening the curve. Still… we miss the wine and cheese! The good news is, everything you need to make a good planche you probably have right at home: Some cheese, ham, grapes, and bread! It doesn’t need to be fancy to be delicious — cheers! 🥂

Our Story

Bike About Tours began in 2006, as a small, grassroots bike tour company showing travelers the 'real' Paris on bikes. We decided that travelers were tired of seeing just the big tourist sites- in huge groups. That's when we decided to design a more personal bike tour, which shows people the neighborhoods where we live our lives, our favourite bars & cafes, the best markets, the tastiest baguettes, etc. It's really like friends showing friends around the city. We added Le Peloton Cafe in 2015, bringing specialty coffee to our neighborhoods and acting as our office for our bike tours. We believe that life is better lived in a Peloton.
