Last post of our series on the Blue Lakes project, showing the visitor zone on previously an illegal parking area. The area is organized around a small cascade linking the lake with the river, and a newly reinforced bank protection covered with local stones. a wooden amphitheater allow visitors to sit close to the water and even bath in the river, redirecting the anthropological load away from the fragile lake eco-system. The area includes a fully re-designed small pedestrian bridge and a new visitor center with a cafe, toilets and community room for educational events. We designed all the architectural forms and signages creating a visually coherent environment, which encourages and educates visitors to help protecting the wider eco-park.

We are proud to share a few images of our installed «friendly blue objects» located in the eco-park of Blue Lakes in Kazan, Tatarstan. These objects engage visitors to go off the main paths, reduce anthropogenic load from protected lakes and introduce them to forest therapy. Co-created with specialists «Osnova Osnov» who ran first forest therapy events in 2023 calculated health benefits for participants: more then 70% people felt less stressful. In addition local eco-center created an audioguide so everyone can take it for free, do forest meditation on their own and reconnect with nature.

Like Icelandic cinema itself, the Cosmic Cinema plays with nature and is socially engaged. Being underground and using the geothermal energy of the hotsprings, it is highly performative in terms heat insulation and environmental sustainability. The monolith roof is a steel structure of 12 m wide by 21 m long, slightly tilted in both directions, longitudinally and transversally. In the East-West direction, it is slightly tilted up at the Eastern end, towards the rising sun.

Our team wishes you a happy new year 2024, full of collaborations and experimentations.

In 2023, we worked on more than 17 projects, including 5 new projects in France. This concept illustration relates to one of them, a 2050 vision for the “Porte des Alpes” (Alps Gateway) together with D&A, consortium leader. The project proposes a forest located above one of the most important regional water table, as an integrated infra and supra-structure for the city of Lyon. This infrastructure of the 21st century can locally invert the climate by reducing heat islands effects and radically improving the local water cycle. Forest can be an integral part of a city infrastructure !
