41 °C in the shade today 🥵 so keeping it light with the food!

Today’s menu of smoked trout with dill, and a smoked burrata salad went down very well…..

But the star of the show, as always, is Mas de la borde haute’s Fructus Argillae white wine. Fruity and fresh with a stunning long mineral finish. Astonishingly good and the perfect refreshment in this heat!! 👏

Throughout the months of July and August, many of the villages nearby hold weekly night markets! Thursday night is Fongrave - one of our favourites!

Fongrave is a small village, but this doesn’t stop hundreds of people descending to the picturesque main square on the banks of the River Lot to enjoy the local food, wine, beer and dancing to the fantastic entertainment! A brilliant experience for all ages - Fongrave rocks!!

If you would like to join in the fun, we still have some availability for August, so hit us up and put on those dancing shoes! 💃 💃💃

We love exploring and adventuring along the ancient and mysterious “Strange road”. The Camino de Santiago (chemin de st Jaques de Compostella) meanders through our village and passes close by Domaine de France, before continuing through the Pyrenees, with arduous adventurers and pilgrims alike eventually finding themselves in the city of Santiago de Compostella in Spain.

But you don’t need to wander far to experience a variety of ecosystems, enchanting ancient woodlands of Cecile Oak, rolling vistas of green pastures, scarps of Calcaire rock outcrops scattered with Juniper and Mediterranean flowers, giving a scent of the south….

Comfortably Sleeps 14 people over 5 bedrooms and other sleeping areas. Portable beds and cots also available.

3 separate apartments each with their own private entrance, fully equipped kitchen, lounge, bathroom, indoor and outdoor dining areas. 2 of the apartments, Rosier and Masion de Jardin are linked with an interlocking door upstairs and downstairs, perfect for larger families.

Le Canard à 3 Pattes

Less than 0.5km, a 10 min walk, is the heart of Penne d’agenais, one of the most beautiful villages in France, with an abundance of French cuisine, artisans, history and the most wonderful views. The beautiful Basilica sits right at the top and can be seen from miles around.

Nearest, supermarket, petrol station and pharmacy are just 2km
These are all situated in port Penne and St Sylvester sur Lot, along with boulangeries, boucheries and farmers markets.
You can also find a range of water sports to cool you down at Capitainerie, Port Penne

The nearest town Villeneuve sur Lot is 6 miles from us, it is a working bastide town with an impressive cathedral in the centre. This town offers, bars, international restaurants, live music, cafes, boutique shops, designer shops and large markets twice a week.

There an abundance of chateaux and vineyards all around Domaine de France open for the public to visit.

A lovely evening spent in our village last night Ville de Penne d'Agenais for Greg’s birthday and our wedding anniversary Restaurant Le Bombecul wonderful food and a beautiful setting. Very lucky to have this on our doorstep.

Gaston Rapin! le maître architecte de Villeneuvois ! Se pourrait-il que notre maison soit l'un de ses projets ? Le premier plan cadastral est finalement enregistré au nom de sa femme.... et les consoles de fenêtres en pierre et le toit périgourdin font l'affaire.
