The terrace totally cleared of tables, chairs, cushions, pool toys etc..Why? Because in a week or so the "abri" (the canopy) will be taken down and a new one built (it's been showing signs of subsidence for a while and wouldn't want it to collapse on somebody!)

For the first time since we bought the house we decided to take a trip to the seaside, at Royan (about 75 miles away, nice drive mostly through vineyards). Very nice little town with a beach, and splendid modern cathedral. If you visit the cathedral don't be put off by the outside which is a cross between a prison and a Soviet-era apartment block, the interior is stunning.

Taking the curtains down from the barn doors, probably the first time in several years.. involved ladders, precarious balancing and a certain amount of swearing. A lot of shield bugs awoken from their slumber and shown the door, and cobwebs removed from the higher reaches of the salle à manger.

Spring has arrived in Palisse and we are visiting for a few days to check up on things. As there are some good flight deals from the UK to Bergerac and Bordeaux at the moment, we are offering short pre-season breaks at prices well below summer rates. Starting April 20 and going through to May 18, if anyone fancies a few days away from it all in the beautiful Dordogne countryside, this is the ideal place. The pool won't be available but if you just want some tranquility, or maybe to do some walking or cycling or explore the little villages nearby it could appeal to you. Important - Today I received an email from a website called "TravelAgents10" - "congratulating" me on Maison Mûrier being listed on their website. This is apparently a scam (look at their reviews on Trust Pilot) and I have definitely not given them permission to list it. They have basically stolen information from this FB page and our Airbnb listing and are masquerading as being a legitimate channel for booking the house; please avoid them and ignore any emails you may receive from them.

Just a heads up for 2024 - in the early part of next season (from Easter until about the end of May) we are going to offer special deals for smaller groups. The house will accommodate 11 people but if there are couples, or groups of 4 or 6, who would just like to enjoy the early spring time and do some walking or cycling or just relaxing in peaceful surroundings (the pool won't be available) we'll offer a reduction based on the number of guests; please send an email for further details.

Thought it a bit strange that after 4 months away there was only one piece of mail in the letterbox..soon found out why..the letterbox had been host to a wasps' nest and Monsieur Le Facteur had very wisely avoided it...so replaced with a new one

New layout for the sitting room - with the removal of the radiator we have more options as to where to put things.. new smart TV with sound bar TV will go back on the wall soon
