Ten Years ‘vacances en France!’
It is ten years, this Autumn, since we bought our wonderful French House and we have had many happy, family times there. Over the last three years we have rented the house out when we’re not there ourselves and it has been lovely to hear from other families and friends who have enjoyed their holidays in our home and the surrounding area as much as we do. We rent out the house with four of the large, five bedrooms available, three of which are en suite.
The house, built in the 1890’s, is home-from-home but still has some of its original features; with a staircase winding up to the top, third floor, chestnut beams in every room and a built-in stone sink in one of the kitchen window sills - quite often made into ‘Bob the Builder’s Quarry’ by our youngest! The house is renovated, rooms are spread over three floors with modern comforts including an en suite whirlpool bath bath, central heating, large TV with cinema sound system and all mod cons in the kitchen: dishwasher, microwave, coffee machine, large gas hob with double oven, butcher’s block (chopping board!), washing machine and fridge/freezer. The rooms are spacious and very light too with high ceilings and double aspect windows; as well as the kitchen and bedrooms, there’s a Games/Playroom on the ground floor and a sitting room on the first floor, both with wood burning stoves. There’s also a peaceful, enclosed, walled garden with table and chairs for al fresco dining; swing seat, hammock and children’s wooden climbing frame/sandpit.
It’s in the heart of a village in the beautiful countryside of Southern Brittany. There are many medieval towns and villages nearby to explore; plenty of cycling along the Brest/Nantes Canal and other cycle routes, as well as lots of water fun to be had at the local lake or the many coastal beaches with walks along the sand dunes too. There’s so much to see and do, something for everyone.
