Our “Virgin” home is a potent portal for the Feminine Presence that thrives here. We offer Bed and Breakfast, week-long retreats and a sanctuary for those ‘on the path’. Many people believe that this land is known as ‘The Grail Trail”, the legendary footsteps of Mary Magdalene as she made her way from Saintes Maries de la Mers towards the more secluded parts of the Aude and Ariege regions. Many people believe that it was She, who seeded the Cathar faith, leaving behind a legacy that still thrives to this day. Whether you chose to explore the more sacred aspects of this land, or require a stopping off point along the Camino de Santiago, or maybe just a quiet place that is needed to rest, relax and recuperate then perhaps you may consider staying with us. Occitania is a vegetarian home, with an emphasis on fresh, life-affirming foods. We follow the Cathar way of greeting and the closing the day with yoga and prayers. Occitania has a sauna, two group spaces, a massage table and an infa-red Amethyst Bio Mattress.

We are once again joined with Richard Stanley who is a South African film director and screenwriter, who lives in the Cathar region of Southern France. His recent movie, Color Out of Space (starring Nick Cage) has restored his 'Hollywood' title, and rightly so, for this man, has many a tale to tell.

In this episode, Richard is speaking about "The Three Esclarmonde's" of the Cathar faith. In the guise of an innocent child, a fierce young warrioress, and a mystical High Priestess Crone, the Tripple Goddess makes her timeless appearance unmissable.

Many of us researching the Cathar History could overlook this piece because to really get it, you have to zoom in real close - and this usually, means - living and breathing here.

Both Richard and I have been drawn to this region, and have spent many days together exploring, climbing and crawling our way around what is affectionally named 'The Zone'. There is no other who could tell this tale, quite in the way that Richard does...

The purpose of these dialogues is to bring together the clearest and most genuine way-showers of our time to hear and heed their message. Their words and the spirit in which they deliver them could lead us toward a trail of breadcrumbs that inevitably guides our way home.

Enchanting Property for Sale in Cathar Country

Puivert is famous for its Courts of Love and Troubadour Romances. Nestled in-between Montsegur and Rennes les Chateau, this area is known as Cathar country with a palpable feminine presence. Occitania is a long-established, well known & highly sought after bed and breakfast destination and is now for sale, as a highly popular and profitable Chambres d'hotes, or family home.
The present owner arrived in 2013 and transformed it into an enchanting home full of character and charm. This property used to be the water well and bakery for the hamlet. If you are sensitive to energy, you will feel the healing, peaceful presence that dwells here.

The property comprises of 5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 2 lounges, 1 library, 1 reading room, sauna, wooden artist's studio, 2 terraces, 1 front rose garden with an abundance of vegetables, flowers, fruit trees, shrubs, herbal medicine wheel and small trees. Despite being situated in a small hamlet the moment you step out of the property you are on communal land comprised of fields and woodland. From the house, you can walk straight out onto the Le Sentier Cathare, an ancient pathway that links all the Cathar sites in the region, as well as access points to the Gr7, and numerous other walking routes.

Puivert itself (which means green valley) is a popular tourist destination in the summer because of its beautiful swimming lake and campsite. Puivert is blessed with low impact mobile phone masts and towers, it's one of the most 'natural' environments we lived in. Despite having such minimal technology, we still have fast internet in the house and are able to easily function as an online teaching platform. It has been so wonderful to live here, but it is time to move - but not too far!

Many people believe that this land holds secrets and treasure. It is said that Mary Magdalene (and Jesus) travelled from Jerusalem to France in a small boat to Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mers soon after the crucifixion.

Once in Gaul, they travelled on foot to the more secluded and mountainous Occitan region, to safely leave behind a 'mystery' that still to this day, thrives and draws people to this area.

Read Anaiya's story

Dearest Friends, on Easter Day (Pete Wilson and) I will begin our 40-day Camino de Santiago walking 25 km's a day on behalf of Dogs. I have created a sponsored event for The Humane Society to raise funds to help with shutting down the Yulin Dog Meat Festival. With as many as 30 million dogs a year suffering for the dog meat trade across Asia, it is simply impossible to rescue our way out of this cruel business, so that is why rescuing is only one part of our strategy. In China, HSI helped to launch a team of activists called China Animal Protection Power, who liaise with local police to pull over trucks on the highways crammed with dogs and cats on their way to slaughterhouses.
When you walk the Camino, you have to have a really big 'why' to get you through the days when you simply just don't want to do it anymore.
This is the biggest 'why' I can think of.

We, my wife Anaiya and I, are walking the 900km of Camino de Santiago (and on to the Atlantic) in April/May 2020. That's on average 25km/ day on one of the world's most famous pilgrim routes. My pilgrimage, every step of the way, is to raise awareness for and the funds to help those that have served but on leaving feel themselves to be out on a limb, isolated, forgotten.
