From Cahors to Mexico via Agen and Barcelona... to discover the "Plaisirs du vin" saga
Starting from nothing 33 years ago in a warehouse located in Agen, Didier Raynal and Patrick Bertossi now own 17 shops under the "Plaisirs du vin" brand, including that of Cahors, which has just moved to Avenue Maryse Bastié in a brand new location. Two wine merchants who have become art ambassadors
to live from the southwest to the four corners of France but also in Spain and even in Mexico, back on a great adventure.
It was in 1989, in Lot et Garonne, that Didier and Patrick, two bon vivants and wine enthusiasts, decided to join forces around a common project: to open their first cellar. But with 500 francs in his pocket, without suppliers or customers, the challenge was daunting. It is in a garage in the city center of Agen that the two “terroirists” will store their first cases of wine. “We started by taking a grand tour of the vineyards of France to meet men and women who shared our philosophy. We have established relationships of trust, often even friendly, with winegrowers who are both creative and respectful of artisanal traditions,” explains Didier.
In 1997, the two wine merchants finally opened their first real shop in Agen. In 2003, a second saw the light of day in Villeneuve-sur-Lot, then a third in Cahors in 2007 before rolling out their concept in France as well as in Barcelona and Cancun to now have more than 35 employees.
“Cahors is a story of beautiful encounters. With Jean Michel Peysson from Domaine Belmont but also with Matthieu Cosse and Catherine Maisonneuve who accompanied us in the project” continues the manager. For Jean Michel Peysson, employee for 15 years, “Cahors is the witness of the development of the group and a privileged place. Plaisirs du Vin has bet on these terroirs and has always accompanied the dynamics of the Cadurcien winegrowers. A strong desire to promote this know-how to both individuals and professionals. A dynamic that the new store, more spacious and ideally located, will allow to support even more with the referencing of new regional talents.
