Highlight of our Berlin trip - Christmas at the botanical gardens

We’ve enjoyed a glass or two of Gluwein along the way. Climbed the 285 steps up Victory Tower. Stood on the bit of waste land now a carpark where Hitlers Bunker was. Saw the Russian influence on the architecture on the East side and walked along the remains of the wall with some great artwork from artists around the world.

Our last day in Berlin. What a fabulous city with so much history, we’ve been fortunate to have had two great tour guides, one on Frederick the great and WW2 and one on the Berlin Wall. We went outside the city to Sachsenhausen, a place of great sadness then to Sansoouci Palace dating back to Frederik the Great times. Weather has been Sunny, it’s lovely to see the city lite up. There’s a Xmas market on every square and around every corner, slightly crazy. You really do not have to far to see something of interest. It’s a city so to see it all means many visits to see it all

Despite spraying them each month for the palm moth we have now lost both palms at the pool but watch this space. Plans are in place for something different to replace them

Our last stop was for a well earned espresso martini with views to Notre Dame. A lot of the scaffolding has come down and opening is a month away

Just back from a fabulous 3 days in Paris which is gorgeous in the autumn. Had a fab day and evening at the atp 1000 tennis in Bercy. A day of fun in the montparnasse neighbourhood, great restaurants, food market, interesting cemetery, lots of fun at the Friends experience and on Sunday we spent the day walking and clocked up over 20kms starting with a fantastic walk Coulée verte René-Dumont, it’s only 4.5km long and built on top of obsolete railway infrastructure. Then from Bastille we walked right along the seine to Trocadéro and back to gare de Lyon. So many changes from the Olympics, Paris is so clean and green, while there was very little sun it was not to cold.
