Spending night in Geneva, Switzerland, my father's country of birth, before flight to San Francisco in the morning. Reserved for dinner at Auberge de Savièse, a restaurant that offers a large variety of Swiss specialty dishes. We chose starters of green salad and main course of moitie moitie cheese fondue. I ordered the chocolate liégeois pictured for dessert. We had an earlyish reservation at 6:30 PM. By the time we finished eating, they had seated 28 people in the small room where we dined.

Before dinner, we walked along Lake Geneva. A gorgeous afternoon, some hearty souls were swimming. We had beautiful views of Mont Blanc, Geneva's famous jet eau, and one of the many cruise boats that travel up and down Lake Geneva.

Friday is market day in Sablet. The weekly market takes place at Place de L'Aire de la Croix in front of Bar des Sports. Our favorite fish seller in the area is at a different market every day, including Fridays in Sablet. He has an amazing variety of whole fish, fillets, and sea food.

Yesterday, we went to lunch at Domaine de Cabasse in Seguret, a respected working winery, with a restaurant and hotel. The owners lived in Isle Maurice (Mauritius) for many years, and the staff are all from Isle Maurice. The menu has many familiar offerings, plus there is a section of the menu devoted to Isle de Maurice specialties. Shirley chose a starter of vegetarian samosas, and I chose zucchini roasted and stuffed with goat cheese. For main course, Shirley chose raviole stuffed with ricotta and spinach served in a Provençal tomato sauce. I chose Daube de Boeuf de Seguet. We skipped dessert. When we were there a week ago, Shirley chose something similar to an eggplant Parmigiano, and I chose lamb curry. Everything we have eaten there, from the area menu and from the Isle Maurice section of the menu, have been delicious. They close for this season on October 23. They will open again around March 2025.

Dinner at home this evening in Sablet. The center of our meal was another specialty of Shirley's and a family favorite, Tarte au Fromage. Shirley normally makes the tarte with Gruyere cheese. Shirley makes the crusts in the family. Tonight, since we had moitié-moitié mixture left from fondue, her Tarte aux Fromages was moitié-moitié. Added a few cherry tomatoes for color. It was delicious.

Went to the weekly market today in Vaison-la-Romaine and did errands. For lunch, we went to La Boulangerie des Tilleuls high up in the center of Faucon. This is one of our favorite places for lunch near Sablet. They are a bakery that serves simple food baked in their bread oven, which is really good. Today, Shirley chose a combo plate with a tomato olive tarte, pizzaladiere tarte, tapenade, and green salad. I chose the leg of lamb with potatoes plat, and for dessert, I decided on an orange watermelon tarte. Last week, I got the rhubarb tarte for dessert. Both were delicious.

Cool drizzly evening, perfect for a Moitié-moitié cheese fondue at the kitchen table. We fight for the golden-brown crusty caramelized cheese ring at the bottom of the fondue pot called the "religieuse," as it is a heavenly bite to finish the meal. Thank you to Lou Canesteou cheese shop in Vaison-la- Romaine for preparing the cheese. It was delicious.

We over indulged at the 50-year Sablet appellation dinner last night. We are going out with friends tonight. So, a simple lunch of spaghetti with a 5 ingredient sauce (cherry tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, fresh basil, and buffalo mozzarella) was perfect for an easy meal on the kitchen terrace.

We were invited by friends to attend a special reverse dinner to celebrate 50 years for the wine Appellation Sablet. The dinner began with a dessert of Nougat de Foie Gras, followed by a cheese course of Brousse de Brebis (sheep cheese on eggplant chutney with red curry). The main course was Parmentier de Canard Confit with potato purée made like Joel Robuchon. A vegetable course followed of Pain de Légumes Psychédéliques (carrot purée, purple cabbage purée, zucchini purée on top of tomato coulis). The meal finished with Oeuf Mimosa. The dinner took place under a tent surrounded by vineyards on the Sablet plain. The meal was prepared by chef Cyril Glémont from the restaurant Côteaux & Fourchette. Tried many wines from different domains and vintages. One of our favorites was the 2019 Paul Roumanille. Our friend Monsieur Roumanille was honored along with 5 other vignerons who were making wine in Sablet when the Sablet appellation was created.

Dining tonight at TMACS in Walla Walla wine country in Walla Walla, Washington. Very pleased to discover a 2021 Piaugier Cotes Du Rhone Villages Sablet on the wine list. It was delicious with perfectly cooked lamb chops.

Our dear friend introduced us to Le Boulangerie des Tilleuls in Faucon a couple of years back. It has since become a favorite place to go for simply prepared, delicious food. The Boulangerie des Tilleuls serves breakfast and lunch year round and dinner during the summer. Read my post at www.sablethouse.blogspot.com to learn about our most recent meal there. Saturday lunch at our favorite bistrot in Provence. We love Bistrot du Paradou, which is located in Paradou, about 12 km south of St Remy.

The Bistrot offers a single menu at lunch and dinner, which includes choice of starter, main course, cheese platter, set in the middle of your table, choice of desserts, unlimited wine and coffee, for 60 to 70€, depending on lunch or dinner.

The Wall Street Journal, dated April 12th, had an article entitled "The 10 Restaurants to Book Now in South of France" and included Bistrot du Paradou on the list.

Read my most recent post on my blog www.sablethouse.blogspot.com to find out about our meal.

Gray, overcast day. That, along with sore shoulder from morning vaccination shots, decided it would be perfect evening for first fondue of the year. So half and half cheese fondue accompanied by a couple of root vegetable salads. All delicious.
