This most delightful of gites is reached along a lane winding through cow pastures and flower meadows to where it nestles in the hills in tranquil countryside. It is a recent conversion of one end of an historic manoir and every possible care has been taken to retain the charming character of the property while still providing every possible creature comfort The spacious lounge, with its wonderful i
nglenok fireplace has been tastfully decorated and very comfortably furnished and has English and French t.v.,radio/cd player etc. There is a modern fully equipt kitchen designed for easy living. There is a good sized bedroom with king size bed and luxury soft furnishings, again nicely decorated and leading from that a luxury en suite bathroom . The luxury bathroom is fully tiled and has a bath,shower,w.c.,bidet and wash hand basin. It also has a heated towel rail so you can always have the luxury of dry warm towels Outside the gite opens onto a pretty covered terrace, with table and chairs, perfect for that romantic dinner or perhaps just somewhere nice to sit with a good book. The gite looks out across a courtyard over gardens and overlooks a lovely ornamental fishpond.
For sun worshippers there are sun loungers and tables provided and for those who prefer to look out at the sun there is the shade of beautiful mature trees and the trumpet vine and wisteria draped over the terrace. And,of course, there is the obligatory gas BBQ for when you really can't be bothered to walk to the restaurant. For many the blissfully quiet surroundings will be an oppotunity to do nothing but relax and recharge the batteries. For others it will be the perfect opportunity for walking, cycling or horse riding in the surrounding countryside and enjoy the rich and varied wildlife - deer, red squirrels, kites, golden oriole, nightingales, nightjars, hoopoe,a miriad of butterflies and abundant wild flowers. The pretty village of St. Pompon is 10 mins. walk away and has all basic shops, two bars and an excellant restaurant. It is worth taking the time to sit in the square and do some serious people watching or saunter through the back lanes and soak in the ambiance. The village celebrates those long Saturday summer evenings with street parties - trestle tables and benches are provided, local food and wine sold at stalls, music played and dancing in the street - great fun!
