La suite de l’aventure au printemps avec l’installation de la terrasse.

There is always a treasure to be found at every walk. It’s just a question of paying attention. This is today’s. No idea what it is, but it’s growing on a dead bit of wood. Graham thinks it’s a kind of fungus. Anyway I just thought it was incredibly beautiful and that it almost looked like a flower.
Would someone know what it is ?

The WoW room. Our friend and architect Jan van Spanje had this amazing idea to cut off a piece of the baton floor and to let all this light flow into the room.
It was a lot of work, but we are still blown away by the result.

Last double room, my favorite one. A mix of old and new again : the lamps are coming from a little échoppe house in Bordeaux (fully rewired by Graham), the beddings are old embroidered family ones and these tomettes are from a 19th century stone house in Bordeaux. The wallpaper is from Montecolino.

Here a preview from the main bathroom. We fell in love with this old workbench which we found in Monségur and gave it hours of love.
We are shooting the living area tomorrow, fingers crossed the sun will be shining 🌞

The kitchen has been ready for almost a week now, but the light has not been right since. Stormy gray days are not over yet, but at least there is some light today. The shade of the green is not exactly the one I had in my head, but it goes well with the next colored wall nearby. So, I will let it be. Almost all electric appliances are second hand, same with the tableware. This IKEA kitchen is made of recycled materials. There were things we had to compromise on, but we tried to keep our ecological footprint as low as we could. And of course, the tap is water saving !!

This table comes from a small village, somewhere in Auvergne. It was so ugly when we bought it, but it was cheap, the shape was right and it was three meters long. That was all what mattered at the time. It took some hours to take the dark varnish off, but I love the result so much. Still one bench to go, but for now I borrowed our kitchen chairs.

I don’t know how many extra hours these old doors have cost us, probably more than a hundred but I am so happy they are here now and get to have a second life.
Finding handles which would fit and match has also been quite an adventure in itself. And now they look like they’ve always been here...

I started the styling of the master bedroom today. It’s still a long way to go, but the evening light’s glow already gives it some personality.
I am still doubting about setting a light wooden frame around the wallpapered head of the bed or not. What do you think?

Concrete vs Tile Flooring
We finally went for tiles, although I was never a huge fan of tiled floors.
Cost and easy maintenance were the arguments.
But through time I grew to love this floor which reflects the outside light so well and changes color through the day.
