Why are we issuing a red alert? We're expecting very rainy thunderstorms of up to 30mm in a very short space of time, with significant electrical activity and violent wind gusts of up to 130 km/h. We're not ruling out the possibility of small hail. We can't rule out the possibility of small hail, and the likelihood of whirlwind phenomena is also probable.

Sarlat’s municipal staff will spend the next few weeks decorating the town in spectacular fashion and it won’t be long now until they start building the 50+ chalets that will house all the beautiful stalls at Sarlat Christmas Market which runs from 6-31st Dec.

IT'S OFFICIAL!! 👩‍⚖️📣 We are having an Indian summer here in Sarlat in the Dordogne in SW France! 😎 Just look at those sizzling temperatures! ☀️

October has always been a fantastic time of year to visit Sarlat. All the local attractions are still open yet the crowds have gone but this year it's even better than usual with all this glorious weather we are still having! Summer just doesn't want to end here in the beautiful Perigord Noir! 🤩

Now is the perfect time to enjoy a stroll around the region's medieval villages such as Beynac, La Roque Gageac and Domme, visit the chateaux of Castelnaud, Beynac and Milandes and the spectacular Gardens of Marqueyssac and Eyrignac, all of which are less than 20 minutes away. Then there's Lascaux and all the caves, cave art, cave dwellings and prehistory that our neighbouring Vezere Valley has to offer which is only half an hour away. With so much to see and do, you'll be spoilt for choice! 😍

So why not make the most of our Indian summer and grab yourself a short break in medieval Sarlat while we still have this fabulous weather 🌤 😎

At Rocamadour, this weekend it's their annual hot air balloon festival ❣️ ....this is absolutely magical!! 😍 Sat & Sun, lift-off is at 08h30 and 17h00. Morning is the best time as the sun is behind you so you aren't squinting! 😵‍ HOWEVER!!!......Keep an eye on the weather because last year we got up at an ungodly hour, traveled over an hour to get there and then waited over an hour for the heavy fog to lift only for that morning's event to be cancelled because of the unrelenting fog 😭 This is SUCH a beautiful and unique event, I promise you you'll thank me for making you get up so early to get there 😃https://www.facebook.com/RocamadourAerostat/posts/670946955066617
