These signposts finally appeared yesterday. We are aware one can't hurry the French, but 4 YEARS AGO we were told by L'Office de Tourisme that we could have 5 signs and we met with them to agree the 5 most useful positions. Only 2 have been installed. But 2 out of 5, a very long wait and no cost to us, is better than nothing. 😏

Another great walk today, 9 km circular route from the historic village of Vals in the Ariege. It was not very sunny today but the view were still up-lifting.

What a facinating sky this evening! As I hear thunder rumbling all around, these 6 photos were taken in various directions. Oddly I could see what looked like sunbeams, not in the western sky where the sun eas setting but in looking due east.

Met some interesting characters at Domaines Des Oiseaux this morning. Not all the storks have left yet, large flocks of Greylag Geese (oies cindrees) were gathering, found a very cute baby donkey, and a funny old billy goat. What a variety!

Lovely walk west of Pamiers... The highligts included:
Views over the town and towards Villeneuve du Pareage.
Great statue in someone's garden.
Cultivating strawberries in recycled plastic bottles.
The Ariege river deep and wide with snow melt water from the Pyrenees.

I set off north on my walk this morning, turned back to view the snowcapped Pyrenees looking stunning, beyond hamlet. THE NEST is the white building in the centre. Lots more magical moments as I continued the circular walk.

Walking today on hills near Bonnac. Fabulous views looking south of the meandering Ariege river and the snow-capped Pyrenees. We were standing on a cliff edge, just to the north of Pamiers.

To show their work on the land and the environment, the farmers of the Terrefort hills have created a feeling of discovery; a six-kilometre hike starting from the village of Saint-Michel.
In addition to the splendid views of the Pyrenees, you will find many educational panels that will explain everything you need to know about this little piece of Ariège.

Pour montrer leur travail sur la terre et l'environnement, les paysans des collines du Terrefort ont aménagé un sentir de découverte ; une randonnée pédestre de six kilomètres au départ du village de Saint-Michel.
Outre les vues splendides sur les Pyrénées, vous trouvez de nombreux panneaux pédagogiques qui vous expliqueront tout ce qu’il faut savoir sur ce petit bout d’Ariège.
