Today we climbed Monte Catiello (1326m), high above the Amalfi Coast. The area of Agerola has a lot to offer to hikers. Forest, limestone, the Mediterranean, and far reaching views all the way to Capri and Mount Vesuvius.

Not to mention the fact I’m wearing shorts in late October at 1000m+ above sea level. 👍

Plus ça change.....plus c'est la même chose.

Some things never change.....this week it was ill prepared gravel bikers crossing sketchy snow bridges in my steps in Switzerland!

What to do on your day off if you look after people in the hills for a living?? Why walk up some more of those beautiful hills of course! This is the summit of Ben Lawers, the highest peak in the Central Highlands in perfect spring conditions last Friday. I had a touch of the Good King Wenseslas up there- spotted a novice walker struggling to traverse the flanks of the mount in descent. So I went over to check he was OK and eventually took him down off the hill. I kicked deep steps across the exposed steeper snow covered slopes for him to walk in so he got down safely. Bit of a busman's holiday really. He bought me a cup of tea afterwards, which was nice!

Just finished an amazing week in a magical land. Shetland is out there! Amazing bird life, geology, ambience and people.
