The first weekend of September is special in Lille as this city becomes the flea-market capital of France! This will be a great opportunity to discover the colourful Flemish-influenced town with its characteristic architecture, sign of a rich trading history.

The Braderie de Lille is the biggest flea-market in the whole of Europe and is one of the most popular events on the French calendar. Enjoy your day at the market by hunting for the perfect item, getting some great bargains and of course immersing yourself in local culture. The event always creates festive ambiance and this year will be no different.

Two to three million visitors take over the streets of Lille every year for the occasion, with music and countless activities and events taking place from Saturday at 3pm to Sunday at 11pm.

OPEN AIR MUSEUM
From Friday 11 April to Sunday 24 August 2014 : daily except on Tuesday

Each spring, OPEN MUSEUM invites major artists to give the Palais des Beaux-Arts de Lille an inventive makeover: film directors, actors, writers, fashion designers, musicians and even chefs are to turn their multiple imaginative talents to putting forward their personal take on the museum.
Premiering this event are the guest duo AIR, Jean-Benoît Dunkel and Nicolas Godin, who will be composing original tracks for the museum. Made-to-measure music to cast a fresh light on the guided tour, prompting an original view the collections. Works befitting AIR's musical accompaniment will be displayed by four artists, namely Linda Bujoll, Mathias Kiss, Xavier Veilhan and Yi Zhou.
