… and so the ‘traffic’ along the Loire Valley rivers continue - this flat bottomed restaurant boat was travelling upstream from Montsoreau to Candes St Martin. We often comment on the ancient modes of river navigation- only flat bottomed boats can negotiate the water levels of the un- tamed Loire. Whichever season you visit us and depending on the weather influencing the mighty Loire there is always something to catch the eye and your imagination. Flights are now available from Stansted to our local airports of Tour or Poitiers or arrive by train. We will pick you up and host our ‘Loire Valley’ holiday or weekend break experiences. As we passed through Chinon this evening we stopped to watch these two fishermen looking for the perfect spot from which to fish. They were moving upstream using a wooden pole. There were a few cars passing by but the calmness of the water and the beautiful light from the setting sun made a stunning backdrop to this age old tradition.
