Over the 80th D-Day celebrations, we had the pleasure of hosting 2 members of the US Round Canopy Parachute Team.

Father and Son thoroughly enjoyed themselves!

They took part in a Parachute jump near Mont Saint-Michel from a Douglas C-47.

They both hope to return for future celebrations.

Following on from our post of 14 May, the rendering has finally been finished giving a more pleasant outlook for gite clients, rather than staring at grey blockwork!

The render was still a bit damp but will dry to give a more uniform colour.

Sunny today, albeit windy.

Took advantage of the sun to do one of those niggling jobs, and that is to replace the gate posts with taller posts, so that the gates don't keep catching on the gravel.

Even so, a niggling little job took nearly 3 hours!

And a couple of photos of the Bluebells and Clematis Montana that adorn the gite!

At last!

Last weekends work comprised of lime render on the block wall next to the BBQ, also the patio and pathways have had a jetwash.

The grey block work behind the BBQ is next in line for rendering, hopefully before the summer season!

Well, after a delay of a few days due to the digger drivers trailer lights failing, all the works were completed on Thursday.

Unfortunately we encountered walls of an old building which has meant I now have a huge pile of stones!

Good morning everyone!

It's bright and crisp and about 5⁰C!

Some of you may remember we had flooding in the house and gite 2 years ago.

We traced part of the problem to an old land drain that abruptly ends at the back of the lower gite garden, we think it may have been severed when the previous owner did some renovations about 40 years ago.

We've decided to reinstate the drain, but that entails a trench from the existing pipe to the ditch omat the road side. Unfortunately the ornamental bush is directly in the way and has had to be cut down.

Hopefully all works will be completed by Monday evening!

We still have availability for Christmas and New year, also plenty of availability for next year except 27 April to 18 May, 3 to 10 June, 31 August to 14 September.

Dear everyone,

Well, Storm Ciaran did its best to blow the contents of our commune eastwards but we're still standing.

There are major problems with electricity, water and phone networks in the department, but, luckily neither the gite or house suffered any damage.

Both the house and gite have electricity, water and phone/Internet, although the water is operating at reduced pressure and there is a warning not to drink the water due to treatment plant being offline.

We lost a few trees in the rear garden and some fences were taken down, but all easily sorted.

Parts of our commune of Varenguebec have no water or electricity, so we are keeping the gite open for residents to have showers, or even prepare meals.

Hello everyone!

We've just returned from a week away to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary!

A couple of late bookings over the last few days has filled the gite until 1st November.

Otherwise plenty of availability from 1st November.

Our bookings are open for 2024, however we are already full for the 80th anniversary of D-Day! The other dates not available is 31st Aug to 14th September.

Apologies for a lack of updates recently.

We've done a few upgrades over the last couple of months, the ensuite upstairs shower room has had a repaint and has had a VMC (expelair) installed to combat some dampness issues. The VMC also vents the kitchen as well.

On the outside, some of the older stonework has had patch repointing, as parts of the gite walls are a lot older than the 1984 build date of the gite!

Over the next few months, the block walls visible will be lime rendered, making it more pleasant to look at.

The old garage entrance has already been rendered, picture attached.

Next will be the wall behind the BBQ and visible block work behind the gas tank.

Plenty of availability after 17 October.

Evening everyone!

Summer may be taking baby steps in May, but it is certainly getting a little warmer!

Just an update on availability as we have had a few bookings over the last couple of weeks.

25 June - 6 nights only
8 July - 7 nights
26 August- 7 nights

We are then full until 17 October (!), although we are away for a week celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary ❤ 💑 in mid October.

We still have availability for Christmas and New year.

We are open for 2024 reservations, and next year sees 80th anniversary of D-day landings in Normandy- we are only 30 minutes or so from Utah Beach!

He had great fun running round the gite garden and looking at our chickens!

A flurry of Bluebells at the front of the gite, also planted are 2 new Forsythia in place of an old Rose that succumbed over the winter.

We've also had a flurry of late bookings and have limited availability until late September.

Apologies for the lack of updates, we've been enjoying a holiday in Porto, Portugal!

However, we return this weekend and reopen on Sunday.

We have plenty of availability up to 28th May, apart from 24 to 31 March, after that only the following dates are available until the end of August:

We decided to keep our reduced prices on until mid December, as we have had quite a bit of interest and bookings from workmen, giving us better occupancy.

We still have availability over Christmas until 28th December.

We will then be closed from 4th January 2023 until mid February as we are having a well earned break!

The good summer continues, although some much needed rain is forecast!

We reopen after a short break on 28th September, we have reduced our nightly rates whilst we have our house next door reroofed.

As per the last posting here, we have 9 to 16 July available.

We are fully booked until 17 September, however we are closed then until 28 September as we are taking a well earned holiday - mainly to celebrate our 60th birthdays and nearly 40 years of marriage!

We then have availability from 28 September to 29 October and 5 November until 7 January 2023.
