Bonjour! And some nice news!

We are in the middle of summer and we had already a nice family spending time in Au Souleu. Still some more to come.
We love it that we can share this house with guests who feel like they live the local french life. Walking in the morning to town to buy your fresh french bread or sit on a terras with a coffee or later a wine.

For you, who never could come out with family or a group of friends, we have some special news.

In the week of 22 tot 28 september we organize a workation in Au Souleu. Which means, you work from Au Souleu in the morning and in the afternoon you are going to enjoy Vence and its surroundings. Focus on working on that special project you wanted to, discuss with your fellow 'workationers', and have time to yourself.

We have already some nice people participating but still have 2 spaces left.

So... if you always dreamt of living the local life in the south of France then this is your chance!

Happy to be back home in VENCE even if we are working hard again on the yearly maintenance.
But by doing so we really have a feeling of the beautiful family house again.

Since an other potential tenant let us down it’s YOUR chance to live like a king in the, south, of France.

We have 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms.
What about a trip with your family and/or friends after summer. The tourist are gone and you really enjoy the French dream in the most beautiful authentic house of VENCE.

After having been let down by our potential tenants for the coming season here an other post.

Au Souleu, available from September 2024 till end of June 2025. For a family who would like to enjoy the life in the south of France.
Au Souleu is on a 4-min walk from the historical center.

Vence is not too small and not too big. Antibes, Cannes and Nice all closeby to enjoy the Cote d'Azur.

Au Souleu has 6 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. A big garden with a real petanque, trampoline and a small but stylish plunge pool.

Luckily people choose more and more to spend time with friends and family instead of buying things.
We travel again and want to enjoy moments.

We lived for years in Au Souleu but the best moments were when the house was full. Was alive!

All the 6 bedrooms used, so 12 people in and around the house.
We experienced during those weeks exactly what the guests who rent Au Souleu do.
Quality time with your loved ones.

The house is big enough so you still have enough space for yourself.

The kitchen is big to cater easily for a group of 12. Long tables to enjoy the delicious foods from markets and stalls.

You can also do this. We still have a few weeks free this summer.

Bonjour,
This are Henri and Claudette. They grew up in Au Souleu in Vence.

Their father Arthur, who was an architect, had designed and built this beautiful house in 1936 in Vence, while the family was living and working in Paris.

After finishing Au Souleu, family Teisseire moved during the holidays back and forward from Paris to the south, to the sun (au soleil), back to their roots.

Henri became like his father an architect, started a family and lived elsewhere in Vence with his family.

Claudette lived till the end of her life, 2013, in Au Souleu.

We, Vincent, Hanneke & Tom, are now the third/fourth generation who enjoys this beautiful family home.

It has the best location on only a 15/20 minute drive from the beach. Not far from Nice, Cannes, Antibes.

It’s in a 4 minute walk from the medieval town where you can buy your fresh bread and croissants or enjoy a glass of rose on one of the terraces.

Would you like to enjoy the local life in the south of France?

Oh my god!
Mon dieu! 😮

It’s already 7 years ago that we started to rent out Au Souleu.
Sometimes I miss the process we had before. The creating process. The renovations, not all that fun…. The ideas we had how it should become, the ideas of what we want to offer families who spend together a memorable holiday in our beautiful family home.

We did manage it all. Thanks to friends who helped us. Especially Antje who helped us with the styling but of course Pierre, Philippe and Christoph who did lots of hard work.

The ‘concept’ is good and now we ‘only’ have to maintain. So coming summer it will be some painting again, renewing some stuff, all to keep the standard up.

All to keep our family heritage in a good shape and the story going and to give YOU the best authentic south of France living experience.

The new year has started. Maybe new plans have been made of how you would like to spend this new year 2024? Did you also think about how to spend your summer holiday? Together with your loved ones, family and/or friends?

This summer Au Souleu is again available for a few groups.

This is a beautiful rusted bicycle. It was from Tata.
From Claudette, the daughter from Arthur and Marie Antoinette Teisseire.

Claudette kept living in Au Souleu after her parents passed away.

She was known in Vence as mademoiselle Teisseire who went always with her bike to town. And as a lady who loved cats.

In 2013 she passed away and in the garage we found three beautiful old bikes. Just collector items.
We decided to have one next to the house. As if Tata is still around.

This summer season we had the pleasure to host families and groups of friends.
Musea have been visited, hikes have been made and the Côte d’Azur explored.

It is a pleasure for us to see how all of them enjoyed our beautiful villa Au Souleu.

We are now enjoying ourselves a bit our family heritage. Relaxing at the plunge pool and doing some maintenance.

We think Arthur and Marie-Antoinette Teisseire would enjoy to see how Au Souleu is loved and taken care of.

And….. honey from Vence.

Our friend Pierre is a real apiculteur. Meaning he has his bees 🐝, many bees 🐝.
And so he collects the honey 🍯 in his miellerie in Vence.

On Sunday morning he sells it on the market in town.
Yummy 😋

Hey Au Souleu follower,

You probably follow our page for a few years now. Each time you get ‘reminded’ about our villa, the center of Vence, or the good life in the south of France.

Today we did what we like most in our area. We hiked a beautiful 3,5 hours hike on only a 20 minute drive from Au Souleu. From Vence you see the pre-Alps so bike or hike lovers can enjoy themselves.

My first day really off after cleaning, gardening, painting, maintaining, updating Au Souleu. 🧹🧽🧼🔧🪜🔨

So today lazy and doing not much. Bit scrolling a bit on socials.
And what surprises me again, like last year, that during the summer people are looking for places to stay for next year’s summer.

Most of our bookings come around March, April, May.
It would of course been great to receive a booking this summer for July or August 2024!

Today is a very special day.
It would have been the 100th birthday of Henri Teisseire.

Henri grew up with his parents, Arthur and Marie Antoinette, and his sister Claudette in Au Souleu.

He became, like his father, an architect. After his studies in Paris he came back to settle Vence.

There he lived a good life with his wife and their three children.
He became 96 years old. And his wife who is still alive is 95 years old.

It is good living under the sun in the south of France. 🇫🇷☀️

How cool that if you wanna go to the south of France and enjoy the local life that you can stay in such an authentic house.

The the architect, Arthur Teisseire - our grandfather, designed Au Souleu in 1936. In Vence is even a small area named after him. Quartier A. Teisseire. There are 5 villa's in the same style as Au Souleu. And on the other side of town is also a cute little house built by him. Villa Henri, he named it to his brother.

You wanna live like the locals? You can not stay in a more authentic Vence family house than this.

Marie Antoinette

This beautiful ensuite bedroom, with private terrace, is named after Marie Antoinette, the wife of Arthur Teisseire.

Arthur, our grandfather who was at that time working as an architect in Paris, designed and built Au Souleu in 1936.
Each time he went with his family back to the south they said: ‘on y va, Au Souleu’ (let’s go to the sun)
Later on they decided to move from Paris to Vence and enjoy the area they were originally from.

Until 2013 the daughter of Arthur and Marie Antoinette lived in Au Souleu.

A few years later, in 2016, it was so much fun for us to restyle the villa and so as well the master bedroom.

Thanks Antje for helping us bringing back life in our beautiful family home.
We hope you enjoy it yourself again this summer.
