If you have stayed in Le Potager Gite, you may have noticed the inscription on the beam with the date of 1761. We have been recently been visited by a French Archeologist, Gerard Guillier, who is studying the engravings on the Houses in Normandie. He confirmed that it is genuine and correct for the period. He also explained the fireplace will date between 1570-1620! This is much older than we thought. Our house will date from somewhere between these two dates of 1620-1761. Very interesting and we’re looking at our little cottage in a new light!
