Did you know?🔎
BrewDog used to be The Royal Atheaneum, a 19th century coffee house in the heart of the city’s administration quarters! During the early 19th century, only local news was published in Aberdeen city’s newspapers and to know what was going on in the world, you had to read London’s or Edinburgh’s newspapers. But subscribing or travelling to read them soon became costly!
The Lord Provost at the time, Alexander Brown, designed The Athenaeum as a newsroom for Aberdeen’s gentry. The coffee bar was littered with worldwide newspapers and boasted sumptuous interiors and great arching windows to let in plenty of light.
