We were absolutely privileged to be able to hand out the first of our 20 Year loyalty gifts to our Chief Engineer Roberto Tonogbanua. Roberto started with us as a motorman all those years ago and has gradually worked his way up to the position he holds now. His continued hard work, perseverance and loyalty have paid off and have been appreciated over the years. It is thanks to people like you that Hays has kept going all the years and continues to thrive. We thank you for everything you have given us Roberto!

We would all like to say a huge congratulations to our very first 'home grown' fully certified DPO, Jimmy Roble! Jimmy has worked his way through his DP training and has recently received his unlimited certificate. He will be taking his first watch as DPO in the next day or so.

For various reasons we have been unable to have our annual Hays BBQ party for around four years so we were delighted to have one last night! Lots of food, perhaps a few too many drinks and a large amount of laughter made for a brilliant night!

I apologise as I am slightly late posting these but we were lucky enough to be able to present some more loyalty gifts to our crew recently. I am delighted to thank Roberto Tonogbanua, Wojciech Radwan and Piotr Borkowski for over 15 years of service. Congratulations as well to Vladimir Androvic, Angelito Viloria and Carlo Escario for 10 years of service and finally to Ceazar James Lira and Ulysis Ibanez for 5 years of service.

Thank you to each and every one of you for your continued service and loyalty.

Tomorrow will be an incredibly sad day for us here at Hays as we say our final good bye to retired Super Gavin Gilchrist. The silence you left behind in the office when you retired was enormous and is even greater now. Everyday you made us laugh and I personally will always miss hearing you ask, 'Abs go and show me again how to do this doll?!' (computers never were your strong point).

Fair winds and following seas. Rest now, your watch is done.
