Beacon Park Cottages

Beacon Park Cottages Luxury holiday cottages on the stunning Monmouthshire & Brecon Canal near Abergavenny Dogs are welcome, too.

Situated just outside Abergavenny, these 5 star, luxury detached cottages are part of the historic fabric of Llanfoist Wharf, the prettiest location on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal. Wharfinger's Cottage sleeps 6, Incline Cottage sleeps 2, and Dry Dock Cottage sleeps 2. Originally a hive of industry, Llanfoist Wharf is now a tranquil spot nestled amongst 30 acres of broadleaf woodland on the

side of the Blorenge mountain - located in both the Brecon Beacons National Park and Blaenavon World Heritage Site. The wharf dates back to the early 1800s and features in Alexander Cordell’s bestseller, R**e of the Fair Country. It was built to transfer pig iron from the tramroad, which came down the side of the Blorenge mountain, to the canal, and then across the world via the port of Newport.

A beautiful winter morning in Abergavenny. Such a lovely shot from a couple of years back, showing first light hitting the hills of the Brecon Beacons whilst the town is still in darkness. We especially love the stark western slope of the Skirrid in the background, still in shadows.

Surrounded by its Seven Hills (who can name them all?), Abergavenny is seen as the gateway to the Bannau Brycheiniog / Brecon Beacons, with the Usk Valley continuing up to Brecon and beyond to the left of this photo.

Have a look on our website for plenty of great walk ideas in the area, plus events, where to eat, places to stay and more.

Peaceful autumn moorings on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal.

The tree-lined canal is a great place to visit this time of year, with autumn colours reflected in the water and the colourful canal boats brightening even the shortest of days.

Have a look on our website for great ideas for circular walks around the canal, as well as places to stay and visit.

Standing in front of Tintern Abbey can feel awe-inspiring, and especially this time of year when the golden colours of the wooded Wye Valley surround it. This weekend you can learn all about the Abbey as it was in its heyday with Brother Thomas.

And in a couple of months is a chance to see the Abbey as it would have been 500 years ago, lit by torches at the annual Torchlight Carol Service. You can find more information on our website.

Our Story

Situated just outside Abergavenny, our three luxury detached cottages are set in the prettiest location on the Monmouthshire and Brecon Canal - historic Llanfoist Wharf. Wharfinger's Cottage sleeps 6, while Incline Cottage and Dry Dock Cottage sleep 2. Perfect for a relaxing waterside break and if you fancy getting on the water you can add a narrowboat break (available March to November) to make a longer holiday. Originally a hive of industry, Llanfoist Wharf is now a tranquil spot nestled amongst 30 acres of broadleaf woodland on the side of the Blorenge mountain - located in both the Brecon Beacons National Park and Blaenavon World Heritage Site. The wharf dates back to the early 1800s and features in Alexander Cordell’s bestseller, R**e of the Fair Country. It was built to transfer pig iron from the tramroad, which came down the side of the Blorenge mountain, to the canal, and then across the world via the port of Newport.
