For over 2 decades, John Haynes enjoyed driving to Riverside Caravan Park with his wife Jayne and their two springer spaniel dogs, Bonnie and Lady. John always loved the time he spent at Riverside.
John passed away at his home in Staffordshire in 2017, aged 69.
To commemorate the anniversary of his passing on 17th January, John's brother, Martin, has arranged for a memorial bench to be placed along the bank at Riverside.
“John Haynes was my older brother, who passed away at his home in Staffordshire from a cardiac arrest in 2017, aged 69. Their van was initially a resale and then they bought a new one and he used to tell me with pride how he had built a patio on the side and loved doing basic maintenance jobs. Simple things which gave him great pleasure. He could cook an awesome breakfast when my wife Sue and I visited him. There is something special about eating bacon and eggs, baked beans, black pudding, tea and toast while enjoying the home comforts of a caravan in such a lovely peaceful place. John enjoyed walking the dogs on their leads to the river boundary of the park and to the local Ynyslas estuary and walk them off lead up and over the sand dunes to a secret place that only the locals know, called the gun turrets. It was his wish that this is where his ashes were to be spread. In August 2020, Sue and I visited Riverside Caravan Park and the sand dunes for the first time since John´s passing and immediately felt so very much at ease.
We are so pleased that Searivers Leisure have allowed John´s memory to live on at Riverside Caravan Park and accepted a donation of a Memorial Bench for residents and visitors alike to enjoy. We are all blessed to spend our lives on Planet Earth and its people and places that make the difference, thank you Riverside for unknowingly making my brother very happy every time he was there. Sincerely, Martin & Sue Haynes."
