🎣 Countdown to the 2025 Salmon Season on the Aberdeenshire River Dee! 🎣

With just one week to go, we are thrilled to welcome the start of the 2025 River Dee salmon fishing season. Following a successful 2024 season, we eagerly anticipate what this year has in store.

📢 Exciting News!
To celebrate, we are offering a £75 Somers Fishing Tackle Voucher for the first verified Spring Salmon caught on the River Dee this season‼‼

To qualify:
- Submit a dated photograph of your catch.
- Provide proof from a Ghillie, if present on your beat.
- Important: All fish must be photographed in the water.

We wish all anglers the best of luck this season – may your lines be tight, and your catches abundant.

Potarch Bridge stands stoic against the cold winter morning. The rising mist curled and twisted above the River Dee, cloaking the world in a soft, ethereal haze. Frost clung to the bridge's ancient stones, shimmering faintly as the weak sunlight broke through the mist.

Do you know a young fly-fisher who had success this year? If so, then there is still time to enter the Callum Mackenzie Junior Trophy - Fisher must be under 18 years of age at time of catch, it can be for any species of fish within the Dee catchment, including rivers Cowie and Carron or one of the many trout fisheries in the district. Entries should include a short story about the capture of the fish. Picture, date, and location of capture.

2024 has been the year of nature restoration on Ballogie Estate. This field resisted all historic draining efforts thrown at it, it wanted to be a wetland and now it is a functioning wetland!
This is part of the Cattie Burn Restoration project downstream from the re-meandered channel. Thanks to some expert help from Swift Land & Building Contractors and The River Dee team, some beautiful habitat has been created too 💚🏞️🐟✨
