When visiting the West Highland Peninsulas we strongly recommend looking up 👀⬆

We have one of the best Dark Sky sights in the country, with over 7000 stars and planets visible to the naked eye thanks to our low light pollution.

The winter is a great time to visit for ⭐star gazing, 🌙moon watching, 🌕planet plotting and maybe even some aurora spotting.

This week we're heading off around the Ariundle woodlands for a lovely 5km walk. On mostly flat, even ground with ample parking this is a delightful walk at any time of year.
Taking in ancient oak woodlands, babbling burns, the Ariundle river (sometimes a torrent, sometimes a gentle trickle), crossing two bridges and walking along a lovely wooden boardwalk.
Close to the start of the walk you will find the Ariundle Centre - the perfect place to visit for a pre lunch walk or a post lunch coffee and cake reward 🍰

Are you planning a visit to Ardnamurchan the year? To help you make the most of your trip, here are some essential tips before you set off:

🚗 Plan Your Journey – Ardnamurchan is remote and stunningly beautiful but travel times can sometimes be longer than expected. Check ferry timetables, fuel up in advance and allow extra time for single-track roads.

📶 Limited Signal – Mobile phone reception can be patchy depending one which provider you are with. Download maps and key information before you set off.

🌦️ Be Weather Ready – The weather changes fast! Depending on the time of year you should think about packing layers, waterproofs and sturdy footwear for exploring.

🌊 Check Tide Times – If you're exploring the coast it's a good idea to be mindful of tides. It wouldn't be the first time that we've had guests wading back from Castle Tioram as they've been caught out by the incoming tide.

📍 Support Local – From cosy cafés to craft shops enjoy what our wonderful local businesses have to offer!
